Victron Digital Multi Controller using old 1K Inverter wire
The Victron DMC uses an RJ45 cable (4 pairs) to connect to Multiplus. I would like to put my DMC where the old 1k Inverter control is located on wall between sink and stove. However, the old Inverter control has just an RJ11 cable (2 pairs). Has anyone tried to use the existing 2 pair to control the DMC? Seems impossible to use the existing 2 pair cable to pull up a new 4 pair wire....
Thanks, Dave

There are RJ-45 to RJ-11 adapters. Look on Amazon

Thanks, but question was if 4 wires (2 pair) that already is in place could be used to connect the DMC. I can add 2 pairs to RJ45 connectors or use adaptor.
Amazon support (?) said it is not possible. Just thought the AS community might have discovered some info or tried it since all the new AS's have the 1k inverter switch and going to Multiplus would make sense to try and add the DMC to spot of the old Inverter switch.
If not possible, I'll have to mount DMC somewhere, probably on side of lounge base.

It will not work....but, you can use the existing RJ11 inverter switch cable to pull a new piece of Cat-5 cable in the wall. I do it all the time.

Victron Digital Multi Controller using old 1K Inverter wire
There is a spare RJ45 in the wall, behind the inverter control - at least on mine. I did the swap you’re talking about and no fishing of wire was required. Just unplug the RJ11 from the old control and plug the RJ45 into the new one. You also have to cut the hole bigger.

Ronnie and AKNate - THANK YOU!! There is hope. I will look for the spare RJ45 and if not I'll try Ronnie's fasten and pull! Really is the best place for mounting the DMC so glad there is a way forward. AS at the shop, so will follow up when I get it back with outcome.

It is relatively easy to pull a new RJ-45 thru a small hole cut into the bottom of your wall directly below the location of your new controller. It is very important to make your hole as close to the underside of the counter as possible, as there is a horizontal support beam just below that location.
It's very easy to do!

If you have the zamp solar or maybe have the zamp prewire in the wall it is rj45. I replaced my zamp charger with the victron solar and used the zamp rj45 wire for my multiplus control. I also mounted the GX color control by pulling the color control wire from underneath the counter.
