Sorry I was turned around and didn't realize which side you were on. Yes in my case I put a cell booster cable glad there but if it works for you that would be exciting! A tight fit for sure.

Haha,
Sure! First I am a Victron certified installer, but I am trying a new system. All the components in my system are MasterVolt except the panels and they are Zamp. List of components below.

(2) MLI Ultra 12/5500 400Ah Lithium batteries (total bank 800)
Mac Plus 50A DC/DC Charger
CombiMaster 12/3000-160 Inverter Charger soon to be swapped out for their 5000W 50A unit coming out in January.
SCM60 MPPT Solar Charger
(2) Easy View 5 monitors.
MasterBus DC distribution 500

All of these components are connected in series to a MasterBus network allowing complete control and monitoring of the system.
Each battery has a built in shunt to monitor energy in and out of the system.
Each charging source can and does communicate with the system batteries and other chargers to optimize there function and prioritize the charge based of available charge sources (Sun first- truck second-shore power third)

It’s a great system with a clean lay out.

GMFL, easily the best and nicest install yet. Awesome! Question: your panels that are next to a/c units; do you know the sun’s angle that would adversely affect production due to shading? I assume those on one of the sides are in series to lessen the likelihood of being “taking out” by shading? I had considered placing Renogy Eclipse - these are the 32 cell smaller ones - beside the a/c unit (singular) but was concerned that one or the other would not produce much of the time. I recently added 2 more (500 now) That is pushing the 30 ampere capacity of the controller, but still okay. It’s hard to get an even number of panels on the 23FB required for series-parallel but one next to the a/c would do it. Of course If I could, I would have to go with an MPPT or a 24v bank and keep the Trimetric equipment. Thoughts?

Photo below shows my series pairs. Low sun angle does cause shadows/shading but I think that’s just the game we have to play. ( And yes, I do realize pair 5 is less than ideal but again I’ve got 1000W on the roof)
“Modern” panels are not as affected by partial shading as much as older panels were.
The MPPT chargers really take advantage of higher voltage so keeping the voltage high helps the charger alway produce at its peak.
Right now my system is pushing just north of 50A under cloudy sky’s because the series pairs are still running at 39V. Under peak conditions these panels should produce 42VDC.

Changing to an MPPT Charger should make a HUGE difference in how your panels perform weather they are all parallel or series/parallel.

Thank you!

The CTC (converted cargo trailer) has 600w (3-200 Hightech Solar - 21 VMP; 9.5 IMP... and an Epever 40A MPPT. Programming via MT-50. I must have had something set wrong that I might have corrected. did a factory reset and changed just the minimum under "User" settings. (Max charge to 14.6, turned off Equalize, set bank to 170Ah, Boost to 14.6, Overvolt disconnect to 14.8, Absorb time to 10 minutes, left Float at 13.8) and clicked save.

My $40 Battery monitor was showing 100%, so I turned on the roof a/c - 9200 Coleman Cub (100A load); soon it popped up to 14.1v and climbing ... amps were low since it was quite cloudy. Didn't stick around, had other things to do, but hopefully it is fixed.

Have you tried this: I initially connected the CTC panels in series. I saw .4A charge under a street light and something like .3A under a full moon. I told someone this and they said "there is no way".

I also found out that 66v (no load) will make you hurt yourself and say things that you will be sorry for later. Maybe not you. Note to self, cover up those panels when working with their wiring.

Here’s this weeks install. 900Ah 10.8KWh! 800 watts of solar but did not get a photo because we were putting them on after dark.

GMFL, Super clean work! I love the flat cable/buss on the last install. I assume you made it. Where do you get it? What kind of crimp tool do you use for that?
