Solar prewire finally discovered

Well, it only took 11 years....and it was found by accident after many concerted efforts through the years to find it, but I found the "roof" end of the solar prewire blunt cut ends. I had always known the location of the electrical center ends, but the search in all the usual places turned up nothing for the other end. Lost in some lonely deep dark cavity, I assumed, never to be found.

Today by accident, the end of the corrugated wire wrap for the fridge power (outside compartment) came loose from its buried floor end (attached to the sealer at the fridge floor). What to my wondering eyes should appear, but a brown, a white, a green and a yellow 10ga wire!!!!

The fridge power wires are white and brown and the other end of the harness was visible and I always assumed there were only those two wires in that particular branch.

So, off with the corrugated wrap, and........

The solar prewires are taped to the fridge harness.

In all my years, here on the forum, I don't think anyone has found their solar prewires inside the fridge harness at the floor of the outside fridge compartment.

Maybe this will help someone down the road.

I always thought they terminated under the roof panel somewhere. Your location makes solar panel install and wiring down the fridge vent pretty straightforward.

Hi

Seems like that's an intermediate solution to a pre-wire. Sorta kinda there, but not anywhere near as useful as terminating it in the combiner box like they do these days.

From talking to dealer techs, tracking down the prewire leads is an adventure every time they do it. To hear them tell the tail, no two trailers have ever been the same ....

In the 2007 model year, I was told by AS Mothership that they ran up the main harness, along the front streetside corner of the fridge compartment, up to the inside of the fridge compartment and were taped there. I guess they must have been short about 6 feet of wire...but why did they run it up the wrong hole in the floor of the compartment?????

Anyway, it is now in use. I always hated tapping into the back of the fridge for power for my compartment fans and ARP thermal protector. I know, combined it's about 1 amp, but still, it's mickey mouse to tap into appliances. It's on a 20 amp breakered circuit (I had an empty one) from the house 12V panel. Now IF I ever need more juice for something back in that area, I've got a convenient source.

That's what I did several years ago. The fat white duplex wire in my hand in the pics is 6ga stranded marine wire that runs up through the fridge vent. I wouldn't have used the 10 ga anyway. 6ga make me future proofed.

Our 2002 had solar prewire when we bought it new, so for quite a long time.
