Soft start for 23FB

My dealer says that if I have them add the soft start to my AC it'll run on my Honda EU2000. Anyone out there actually tried this?

Thanks

Lot's of threads on this. The answer is yes, but don't have other AC loads on.

Make sure you are getting the EasyStart brand. There are many "soft starts". In my opinion, the EasyStart is the best.

^^^ EasyStart. It is the absolute go to unit. 30 minute install.

Honda- Micro Air

Yes it will start and run it. Works well. However It can“ SCREAM “ on hi idle if a hot day under heavy demand like if TW turns on anything else. Refrigerator must be on propane. So I end up bringing the companion 2000 along anyway.

Which honda eu2200 do you use?
the companion with the 30 amp plug or the regular one
I am guessing the one with the 30 amp plug
but i want to be sure or could you use either one with a plug adaptor?

thanks

Either one will work. They put out the same power when running as a single unit, regardless of the outlet type (20A vs 30A).

Generac 2200I as well!

The Generac 2200I also works wonderfully on the AC or the microwave....but not both at the same time

There are several brands out there. I have an EasyStart and and it runs the AC just fine. I don't have many other loads on AC, and I keep the toaster put away when I run the AC

Just tagging on here. I had the easystart on my 23FB and it worked fine with my Honda 2000. I just switched to a 25 FB with a single 15,000 AC. Will easystart enable the larger unit to run on the Honda 2000? I’m sure it’s been mentioned, but I never paid attention. I never thought I’d switch trailers..

Exactly, you get the model with the 30A plug if it's your second unit, connected to the first. I have the EasyStart on one of our ACs (15K btu) and it's enough for our needs. So one 2200W generator is enough for us.

Thanks Larry. Your 25 was one of the reasons we decided to go to 25 from 23. I should have asked you while we were camped next to you in NC.

warranty issue

If your AC is still under warranty, I was advised at JC that Dometic will void any remaining warranty. Worth calling Dometic to make sure is you have any warranty left.

Trouble with mine. Operator error?

To piggyback on this thread, I have a 2015 FC 27FB. Added Easy Start and have a Honda EU2000. When I tried running the AC off of the Easy Start, it would initially kick on, but then turn off and flash an E7 code on the thermostat. It would then kick back on. It would do this every few minutes, never really getting going and the trailer cool. Any ideas why? I am not very knowledgeable with this stuff, nor have I had much time to troubleshoot - we tried it once while camping during the rolling blackouts in CA this Fall, but then had to high tail it out of where we were due to fire danger. Thanks.

Hi, not to hijack this thread--but I really like the rear hitch and generator holder on Glampman's post picture. Is it custom made or is it a retail product? Details would be excellent!

Yes it will. There are some load sharing tradeoffs. You can’t run your microwave or refrigerator when your AC is running. Also those two will put a power overload on your Honda 2000.
