Silly question

If you owned both an EU2000i and an EU2000 companion but were only going to need one on a trip (probably won't need AC), which of the two would you bring?

I would hold an elaborate ritual and end it off with "eeny meeny miny moe"

Kidding - I have no idea

Probably the companion as it works with the 30 amp cord without an adapter.

I have an adapter that plugs into my 50 amp trailer connection and accepts a regular extension cord that i could plug into the genertor, saving me the trouble of wrestling the heavy 50 amp cord (and possibly having to store it away each time when we leave the campsite). The eenie, meenie, miney moe solution is probably the best answer, since either generator will accept the regular extension cord.

I know it was a silly question.

Try running your microwave or anything else you might need to run before deciding. I just discovered my convection will run but not the microwave on one generator. I had previously believed only my AC would require both.

I don't know if the companion has the battery charging cords and capability the 2000i has.

Similar to what GoWhereTowed said. When I've had to make the same decision in the past, I usually took the standard eu2000i since it had the ability to charge a battery directly if needed (never needed to do it though). But now, I will take the Companion since I recently converted it to propane that can run directly off the trailer's tanks (the standard model was left as gasoline only).

Charging your batteries from the converter/charger takes liken 700 watts (maybe more?) you can cut off that breaker I think if you need for a small bit of time to run the microwave. Of course hot water and fridge would be running on gas..

God luck on your trip
