Shortage of Honda EU2000i ????

Back before the holidays I had trouble ordering a Honda EU2000i. The local Honda dealer, Camping World etc were all out of stock. I eventually placed an order with WiseSales, with an expected 7-10 day delivery, they of coursed ran my credit card so I was charged straight away.

So each week since then I go through this little 'dance' of me checking my order status on-line, finding it is 'processing', me ringing up and asking 'what does processing mean?', and them saying they are waiting on stock, but not to worry there are more coming in 'next week'.

This has been going on for over a month, is on the latest iteration of 'pass the buck', I asked what was the chances of 'next weeks' batch actually including the one I ordered, only to be told they still are waiting for enough stock to fill orders placed in November......anyone know the back story?

Weird. There's a forum member who works at Honda - maybe he'll chime in. If you're getting that type of info from multiple sources there's got to be a supply chain problem...

Wise

I have gotten 3 EU2000s from Wise. Cheapest prices around. No problems with shipping.

I have purchased from Wise Sales before and never had a problem with them.

Camping World web site says they have them in stock and ready to ship. Personally I would cancel my order after getting the run around for a month and order from CW.

And I am always suspect of any company that wants to charge your credit card at time of order for items they normally stock that are not a special order. That can be a red flag of financial strength. And I to have had good service from Wise in the past.

I ordered mine from Electric Generator Depot at the end of 2014. Cost $899.99, free shipping. CA to NH in 1 week. I'm happy with the price and fast delivery!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there's a HUGE Honda factory not 15 miles from Jackson Center, Ohio - aka "the Mothership" and I thought they manufactured those generators right there.

Now of course more and more people want to have a generator, so perhaps there is a seasonal shortage, but still...

Enough

A great word. A complete sentence. Money back or genny on my front porch, PERIOD.

Complain to everyone, even the justice department - unfair credit practices.

Just my opinion.

Sorry about your troubles with WiseSales. I too got nothing but false promises for a month until I contacted my credit card company and ended the nonsense.
Try Electric Generators Direct. I received my order in less than 48 hours.

Best of luck.

Coincidentally I was just in a Honda motorcycle dealership this afternoon in Houston, Texas and they had 4 each of the little devils sitting on a display shelf; must not be in short supply.

Our experience with Wise was good as well, but apparently they don't seem to do as well when their stock is low (we got it quickly, so they must have had the generator in stock when I ordered ours). I would also cancel the order and go with CW or someone else.

Like others have said WISE usually is very prompt. I have bought two Honda 2000's, a water pump, and a lawn mower with no issues. With the weather conditions in the North East I suspect there will be a regional shortage and a mail order run on generators.

I had the same issue with delayed shipping from WISE. I ordered 2 of the matching 2000,s. Took about two weeks longer then I was told. They had one but were waiting for other to ship both together. It was a pain waiting but Looking back I would still order from them. Great service dept. best price and free shipping when they are shipped. I'd say order a little early just to be safe. I a happy camper.

I have found found 5 on line retailers and 3 local stores that have them in stock. Shortage? I do not think so.

I believe those big Honda buildings you see here and there are for distribution, not for manufacturing. I bought a Honda EU2000is last spring, built in the Phillipines!

If you have a 13.5 or 15.0k btu air conditioner, probably not. I use two paralleled EU2000i's and they have no problem.

• There are plenty of Honda EU2000i generators (all versions, including standard, Companion, and Camo) in multiple Honda warehouses in the USA. While the EU2000i is Honda's most popular generator model, wholesale inventory is almost always available. Even during weather events or disasters, I've never known Honda to totally sell-out of this model.

• Honda does not ship generators to any retail customers. Honda wholesales generators and ships them to dealers, period. A retail customer having any shipping or delivery delay should contact the selling dealer directly.

• Up until about a year ago, all Honda EU2000i generators were made in Japan. Now, they are made at the Honda plant in Thailand. If you have a serial number that starts with "EAAJ" that is a Japan-build unit. Serial numbers starting with "EAET" or "EACT" are units made in Thailand.

• While Honda is the second largest employer in the state of Ohio (the state government is #1), no Honda generators are manufactured there. Honda has a large plant in Swepsonville, NC, that makes 160~190cc Honda engines, lawn mowers, mini-tillers, string trimmers, and snow blowers. The plant will be re-tooling this year to start making large 2-stage snow blowers and a yet-unannounced generator model.

Thanks for this Robert.

At the time I originally tried to order, CW on-line was showing 'out of stock' (and our local store also didn't have them) but Wise gave no indication they would have trouble filling the order. If Honda has them, then I can only assume the issue is Wise are not ordering enough, but rather sitting on my money.

I will know better than buy from them again, but now have to try and cancel my order and get my money back so I can go elsewhere - no doubt they will be as slow at doing that as they have been about ordering the unit.....
