We recently took delivery of our 2021 Globetrotter and prepped two Honda generators to run off the LP Port. Both operate very well. These were converted using the Hutch Mountain conversions kits and easy to install. They both store together secured in a low profile tool chest.

If you had to do it over would you have gone with Eu3000is instead of the twins?

We began with the Honda EU-3000is. It is one hell of a generator! It is quiet, it has great power and it has a decent size fuel tank.
It is also heavy... now we use a pair of Eu-2000i generators.
Much easier to move around...

If you had no issue leaving the 3000 stored in the bed of your truck, would you still prefer the 2 2000 units?

We have a very similar setup (2 eu2200) and have hooked everything up running "paired". A/C seems to start and run fine (single). I did not measure peak and continuous amps but should be able to do that with the power conditioner inline unless the generators throw a ground fault, also have an induction meter.

Did you measure current (load) while running off the single port?

The only readings we have taken so far is actual use. We went with two 2200s to offer plenty of power for operating the AC and other items in the trailer. We have tried the single 2200 and with easy start installed it operates fine
The regulator board was the most worrisome, but worried if it would work, but I borrowed my wife’s cutting boats to mount the regulators and that was an issue [emoji23]

Are these ok to run the air conditioners...any worry about the initial start up? We just bought two of these and haven’t had a chance to run them. Considered the 3000 but these are light to move around...out of the bed if we have rain etc.. also 4400 capacity might be better than 3000.

I originally bought an EU3000 for use with our FBFC20 and our 2013 F150. I agree that the 3000 is a great generator and electric start too, but it’s so heavy! However, it fit nicely under the bed cover on the 2013 F150.

Then recently we bought a 2020 F150 and found that Ford made the bed an inch more shallow in the new truck, so the EU3000 would no longer fit under the bed cover. I have since bought an EU2000 t replace the 3000 and love it! I don’t have to get help to move it wherever I want to put it!

The idea of modifying it so it would run off the LP port on the FC is intriguing. Does anyone know how fast the EU2000 will consume LP?

Excellent

Ive had both 2k and 3k... you are absolutely right about the weight. The 3k is a beast. Haven’t decided which to go with on the new AS 23. We tried a single 2k to power a 13.5 btu dometic AC w/o soft start. Wouldnt ever throttle back down. Certainly wouldnt go to “eco” mode. Heck of a racket at full bore. Im guessing your setup is best plenty of power, eco mode, etc. Also curious about power output on LP. Supposedly less than rated. Anyone have “real world” experience w Honda 2kx2 or 3k on LP?

There are some threads answering your exact question, but you will need to search for them.

I went round & round with this dilemma. I purchased two 2200's, then ended up returning one and purchased the Micro Air easy start. I used the GenConnex conversion and run one generator off of my propane port. So far, the GennConnex had no issues running the AC...that was during a 1 month long trip to the Carolinas. You my want to add the micro air easy start, then use one generator most of the time. Only use two when necessary. The only drawback is limited draw. I can run the AC, lights, & 1 TV off of the one 2200. You will need to turn off the AC if you need the microwave or any additional power consumption.

BTW...here is fairly safe way to protect your generator. I made it out of 3/4 Baltic Birch Ply. Used aluminum sleeves around the mounting hardware...eliminates the ability to cut the hardware from the side. Very difficult to cut plywood that is directly on the ground. You can place your tongue on the board or park your wheel on it. ...worked great.

I installed a lift crane in the right corner of my truck bed. It will lift 1,000# max. With a winch and power crane arm it will handle most loads from the ground into the bed. It handles my propane powered Yamaha EF 6300 120/240 volt genny just fine. When the genny runs about half speed, which is most of the use it is very quiet and economical.

Interesting that "guskmg" has installed a "crane" - At the present we have a Champion 3400 dual fuel which lives in the back of the truck. Yes, it's heavy 100# which is more than I can lift alone - that's why it lives in the truck. However, the boss and I can lift it together if required. Also, I do have a "crane" which I have thought about installing at some future time. I like the power of the single genny as it runs everything, fits under the tonneau cover, runs on LP...

Single Champion runs in the bed under cover

I do like the lighter approach. Until it becomes the only way, we leave the heavier Champion in the truck bed, strapped in place, with a simple NAPA exhaust extender running through a double-wall piece of gas flue to prevent heat issues where it rests on the top of the tailgate. Love the remote start on the Champion.

Mostly we use the solar suitcase, but extended crummy weather requires we liberate previously stored solar energy by breaking chains of hydrocarbons manufactured by ancient plants and animals. Very natural and efficient process.

But did you mention to her they looked great supporting the regulators? I know that would make my wife feel better

For me there are too many Pro's in favor of 2 Eu2200's. Easier to load for sure at about 50 lbs. each, compared to 130+. I can still load the 3000 by myself but if my tailgate was much higher, I could not. The 2200 fits under my bed cover, the 3000 does not quite let it close. 4400 watts available instead of 3000. The cost is about the same for 2 of the 2200 compared to the 3000 but you do have additional expense in the Parallel kit and extra LP adaptor. Having 2 instead of 1 creates a backup if one goes down. IMO both are great, the 2200's are just better for me.
