Remote Generator Ready

I have a 1992, 25 ft Excella and I noticed on the new model it said "REMOTE GENERATOR READY". What does this mean? I planned to buy a Honda generator and plug the camper in. Please advise. Thanks LCP

I would imagine it means that your rig is prewired to accept a portable generator....kinda silly, because you're be able to take your shore line and plug it right into the generator you plan to buy....I really don't understand that label myself, unless you're already plugged into shore power and the electricity fails, you have another location that is plugged into the generator and it automatically switches over? Either way, you're still going to have to go outside to start the generator, so why not plug it in at that time???? I don't know, I'm probably making it harder than it really is.

Actually there are generators now available with remote start capability. I believe Tin Hut recently had his unit customized for that, among other things. Check out the Yamaha generators...even though I'm a Honda 2000 owner.

It means that there is a "plug-in" at the front of the trailer above the box on the A-frame. The purpose is so you can run a short cable from the generator in the bed of the truck to the plug-in above the A-frame.

Big Dee is correct. AS refers to this plug as a "Aux. generator plug" and is available as an option on 2006 Classics only. I tried to get one ordered as an option on my 2006 CCD, but was told by factory is was not available on CCD, but could come back to factory service to get installed after the fact. Go figure.

Let's do the math. My Honda EU-3000is generator is in the bed of my truck right at the tailgate and my shore power plug is about 18' back on the street side of my CCD. That's about 20' from each other. My 25' 30 Amp cord does just fine!

Redundant is the word I was looking for...lol. A plug is a plug. Unless you don't have the correct adaptor......We all carry several I am sure. Lets me thins more complicated...we are human after all.

So Bob, AS is making such a perfect trailer [almost anyway] that they are now thinking up silly ways to come up with options people will pay for? If I had one of these new gen plugs, wouldn't I use the same shoreline I always use? So what is the difference if I have 30' of line stretched to the gen or 30' of line coiled to the gen? I don't get it?
