Predator 5000 inverter/generator

Hello forum,
Question: will my inverter/generator run off of the exterior quick disconnect propane connection on my 2025 Globetrotter 30. The stock propane male fitting on the inverter/generator will not take the quick disconnect that I am using with my grill. Before I start swapping out parts, has anyone else tried this?

I can't speak for you stock quick connect LP gas feeds, but the limit could easily be the rated BTU output of your regulator(s).
Mine is a 287.5K BTU auto change over regulator which is common sized for many applications. (Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DK626918...fed_asin_title ) that I replaces my old system with.
On my 1985 Sovereign 25' there were no Quick Connects and I added one on the curb side where there was already a TEE that fed the (Removed) stove and at the rear feed to the water heater replacing a union with a TEE.
I added another Quick Connect at the rear for my generator.
The feed from the regulator is a 5/8" flex to the 5/8" copper to the first tee in the curb side.
From there the rest of the plumbing is 3/8" all the way back to the added QC at the rear bumper.
I have operated the entire trailer with a Pulsar 2200 bis dual fuel generator that puts out about 2000 watts on LP gas.
I swapped out the noisy and power hungry Penguin A/C for a more efficient Tosot Eco Cool with a soft start unit. This small generator runs the trailer and A/C pretty well being fed from the rear QC and a 25' 3/8" rubber flex line so that I can get some distance from the trailer for noise. The 25' electrical cable on my trailer also exits the rear bumper so both can be ~25' away.
Most likely the Predator will get enough gas to operate as well.

This may help. I have two Honda 2200i's converted to propane by Genconnex. In their FAQ, they say if I want to run both from the trailer's quickconnect at higher power, I would need to increase the size of the trailer's supply line from 1/4 inch to 3/8.

Thanks for the replies. The common theme I am reading is the larger line size. The fittings and extension lines I have are all 1/4”. I think I am going to leave the stock fittings alone on trailer and generator for now. I will just pull a tank and hookup to the regulator that came with the generator as per my testing. Sure would be slick to hook up to auxiliary though! Maybe a future project. Thanks again.

It's not uncommon to see people carry a "spare" standard 20-lbs swappable propane tank just for the conveniece of it.

I tried to run a propane generator off a regular size quick disconnect from the trailer's propane regulator. That didn't work so I upsized the tubing and substituted the largest size disconnect. It still didn't work. The generator worked fine if I connected it directly to the trailer's propane tank. The problem was that the generator has its own internal propane regulator. It couldn't get enough propane with two regulators in the line -- its own regulator plus the trailer's regulator. For this to work, you must run a tube to the quick disconnect from a t-fitting that you would have to splice in near the tank, ahead of the trailer's propane regulator.

There’s another thread about generators you should check out. I’ve run a Champion 3400 and 2500 off the stock low pressure port.

Scroll down to Post 114 for a video where Chad from Chad’s RV reviews his Champion 4000 and lists all the parts needed in the details section of the video.

https://www.airforums.com/forums/f44...-236153-6.html

It’s a simple fix. Good luck!

My truck is diesel and I don’t want to carry gas. I run my dual fuel champion 3400 off a 20lb propane tank. No mess. No fuss.

In our case, we tow with an SUV. Don't want to smell gasoline. Plus, we use the two we have for household backup. Propane can be stored without going bad over time. I can also run them on our natural gas supply.

Hope

I am going to try Chads set up from the video. Thank you jeffmc306! (and Chad) That is exactly what I had hoped to do! I was contemplating changing the hardware on the generator. Chad changed it at the stock hose regulator. I much more comfortable with that. And making it a quick disconnect back to stock is very slick. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will run my Predator. Love the forum and all of it’s collective knowledge and experience!
Thank you!
