I carry an electric winch and a pair of aluminum ramps, all from Harbor Freight. Quick setup that allows me to load/unload my generator at home or on the road.

My bad. I think I got confused while reading one of your posts and it doesn't help to read on my phone. LOL!

Moosetags, great project. I'm learning a bunch! -John

Palm Beach? Was this you I passed on I-95?
Palm Beach tags. Traffic returning to Florida was a nightmare. I saw you exited where there was a KOA. As I tagged along in the other lane, I looked at the back of your trailer and thought, "That looks really good!".
I picked mine up two weeks later.

I would have thought about dumping the exhaust out through the fender well or through the bottom of the bed and using a rubber grommet to plug the hole when not in use. Seems like a shorter exit point for the exhaust? I’m sure I am missing something though.

The "why" is because we wanted a more convenient way of accessing generator power for overnight Wal-Mart or truck plaza stops. When we do our long distance cross country runs, we like to drive a longer day. Most campgrounds do not lend themselves to a quick overnight stop.

Our new configuration allows us to stop for the night and be hooked up to power within five minutes.

I have thought about doing this. How do you attach the winch? Is it powered by 110v or from truck battery?

My winch is mounted to an aluminum tube that goes from side rail to side rail. The bar can collapse for storage. I ran a cable from the battery to the truck bed and have an anderson plug for the connection.

For a few years, I just dead lifted the Honda 3000 to the tailgate. I started to get concerned about my back.

Looks like a well thought out design Moosetags. Just modify as needed based on your experience using the design as is.
