New Improved Yamaha 2000 model
Yamaha has a new improved model out. Has anyone tried or seen it?

I will receive the combo on Thursday. I think it will take care of my 23FB no problem. Thought about the 2400 but felt it would not do too well with ac running and anything else on at the same time. I like the portability(size/weight) advantage too and if I am not using the ac I can just run one of them.

The Yamaha 2400HC has been under estimated. I have one and it will handle the 13,500 btu a/c without effort. Mine is a tri-fuel and I use it on propane. It has 2000 contuious watts and handles everything we need. I have used it above 7500 feet without a problem on propane. It's a great generator in a 75 lb. package.

I bought it for the purpose of emergency power since my wife uses a dialysis machine at night. I've not had to use it on the road. I did however have a situation where we had to use it at home to provide about 4 1/2 hours of power for her machine.
Based on the dialysis equipment wattage, I found that I have enough unused reserve capacity in the generator to concurrently keep the fridge, lights, furnace or fans (which ever is needed) and the electronics for the fridge and water heater if necessary. Water heater has to run on gas and no microwave during dialysis. Fridge can run on electric or gas.
My plan is to use propane when on the road. I have 2, 20 lb tanks at home as reserve and I have a natural gas quick connect on the deck at home also. I'm very pleased with this unit and plan to run a power inlet from the deck down to the panel along with some transfer switches to allow power to rotate to the furnace for heat and the refrigerator, along with some lighting and power to her dialysis equipment. Dialysis equipment pulls about 385 watts max.
I chose the Yamaha due to the fact that Yamaha service centers will honor the warranty on tri-fuel units that are sold by US Carburetion. Here's the link to their page for this generator. They occasionally will put these units on sale. Last year I caught it for $200 less than the current price. Normally the sales occur in March. http://www.motorsnorkel.com/yamaha-e...line-only.html

I am very interested in your comments. When running your 2400HC on propane, and after starting your 13,500 BTU AC, have you had any issues operating other loads such as the converter/charger, lighting, etc.? I know microwave would be too much. I want to be able to run my ac while during lunch stops on the road.

Just had my 2000 combo delivered. First thing I noticed was that they were made in China...I was thinking they were made in Japan, looks like they are doing things like we in the USA are doing. At least the oil was made in the USA. Are all the Yamaha and Honda generators made in China??

Mine has a China sticker on it. Was built a year ago. A lot of stuff these day's have China heritage due to the labor costs. I've found though that it doesn't always equate to a lessening of quality. I think Honda and Yamaha demand pretty high quality from their Chinese suppliers.
I just saw a program relative to a railroad historical facility wanting to get a new build steam engine to accommodate their growing excursion program. Ends up that nobody but China still builds full scale steam engines. Apparently the Chinese still actively use steam and the US facility had the engine built to US federal and safety specs.

MicroAir & 2000W Generators will run 1500 AC
If your not aware, there are a few threads, talking about how to run your 1500AC units with your 2000W generators; MicroAir. I don't work for them, nor have I installed on my unit yet, but several ASers have attested to this device as a great addition so you can use your lighter weight 2000W unit, and also reduce the strain on starting the AC up I plan to install in the spring when I upgrade to new AS with ducted air.... Here is their thread with discount for AS users...
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f206...-161955-3.html
If you research the recent threads, there are several installation posts with great results. FYI

RichTech, I have not had any problems. The frig is on gas. I have not tried the microwave with the a/c going but it will handle with the a/c off. I like the 2400hc because it will do just about everything that 2 2000 gens will do. I do like running it on propane.
This past summer I had to replace my a/c at Jackson Center. They did not have a 13,500 in stock so I went with a 15,000. My 25' FB should have had an15,000 to start with instead of the 13,500. I have not attempted to run the 24,000hc and don't plan to.
i recently purchased a Yamaha 2000 tri-fuel from U.S Carb because of its lighter weight. Although the 2400 is only 74 lbs it was just to much wight for me and my wife to handle. I would rather have one 2400 than 2 2000 gens.

That product is extremely interesting for sure, wish it was a tad smaller so not so many "tricks" needed to install. I will be following this product and it's reveiws in case I just want to use 1 of my 2000s.

I'm going to wait too, but mainly because of warranty. I hope I can make it fit in my low profile AC. Wonder if some cabling runs through roof around returns, that could also be used to route easy wiring through. Looks like there's room to mount box in ceiling area there?

Decided to go with Champion 3400 duel fuel for now. Same cost~ as one 2000 and I don't have to mess with my AC. Think after warranty is up I'll look again at the dual 2000s or the latest version and keep Champion for other uses.

I have had several "private" conversations with Microair and they are very knowledgeable with great advice about any questions you have. I did see someone on a thread about installing in the new A/C low profile models recently. Check out post #133

3400 will work great, but why not 2000?

Your headed in the direction I was until I saw the Microair thread...I have the Champion 2000 and I love it. My neighbor has the 3400 and he loves it. I have used his 3400 on a trip last September when we were both camping...I rolled it over to my AS and it worked well. My issue is the weight, getting it in and out of my F150 vs the lighter 2000 Champion. Plus, the Microair unit seems to "soften" the noise and thump at start up of the AC which is also a plus. I may end up with the larger unit, but I will first try the Microair unit and try to save my back.... The dammed Yeti cooler is heavy enough!
check out this thread about running both 13.5 and 1500 AC's with Microair and also on 30 amp shore power; no 50 amp needed...

I hear you, I too have been following the MIcroair, specifically the 364. My only concern now is my AS is new, 8 months into warranty and I just wanted to let that run its course before I jump into that mod. I also want to follow the installs in the low profile ACs to get a better feel for what I may be getting into.

Well I ran both my Yamaha 2000s today to start the break in. Not sure how important it is, but trying to break them in using different loads, Eco switch On and Off, etc. Both 2000s started on the first pull and ran perfectly, the weight of them seems to be great - easy to move around by myself with little strain at all.
