Installing Solar Controller in 23 CB Prewired for Solar

Hi,

I have a 2019 Flying Cloud 23' CB that is pre-wired for Solar. I'm trying to install the solar controller in the left front area of the trailer near the bus bar. I have easy access to the Yellow and Green wiring from the roof but struggling with how to access the Bus Bar to connect to the battery. It's impossible to remove the bus bar cover unless I remove all the dinette seating in that area. I'm considering just trying to run new dedicated 10ga wiring out to the battery box -- possibly along side the other wiring. Suggestions?

Thanks

Hi

There has to be some sneaky way to get to the bus bar.... You do want to tie in there if at all possible. Also - make sure you fuse everything properly.

Update on solar install

Just wanted to update this thread in case anyone was curious. I took the advice of uncle_bob and a couple others I pm'd.

In the end, removing the trailer interior in that area was not difficult. First removed the table then after about 9 screws (3 of which were into the aluminum sides of the trailer, the others into the adjacent cabinet), I was able to lift the wood structure up without damaging the heating duct. That gave me nice access to the DC power distribution box.

Once there, was able to wire the +/- connections to the bus no problems. Also, I found that the green/yellow connections were, as they should be, connected to the 3 port connector box on top of the trailer. Those three connectors are connected in parallel and in spite of what others said, don't seem to be connected backwards. But I definitely buzzed them out to be sure. Used green for ground and yellow for positive. I have installed a pair of 100watt flexible panels on the roof and a low cost PWM controller near the DC distribution box. Depending on how much I use the solar, I may add more panels and a more elaborate charge controller. Ping me if you have more questions.
