How to turn on generator, and how long does it last

I am so ignorant of everything Airstream Atlas. I have a 2020 Atlas, and plan to leave in a few days for a long trip. I've never used it before. I envision needing the generator for the AC. I think I have been told the AC can only be used when plugged in, or with the generator. I think I heard the same about the microwave. (And I understand I also have a 12-V battery, but don't think that works for more than the lights...?) Obviously, I'm concerned about getting out there and not knowing much at all to make my three day road trip happen. Please help if you can! Or point me in a direction where I can get steps to set up that start at before step 1. It seems that everyone starts answers assuming that you already know stuff.

Welcome to the forum.

Have you checked your owner’s manual?

May I have your permission to speak freely about heading out on a trip with so little preparation?

Hi Wendy,

Yes, you will need the generator to power your A/C/and microwave. Your house battery powers lights, fans, water pump and a few other small electrical draw items.

As OTRA alluded to. Nearly everybody's first camping experience in their first RV is in the driveway.

There are reasons for this. You can familiarize yourself with the systems. You will also find you forgot or did not think of many things you need. Easier to weather these storms feet from the house where you can get supplies. Very different when in the middle of somewhere. Strongly urge you to do this.

But no matter you will find things will always be forgotten. What you need to look up in your manual will not be specific enough. Things will always go sideways.

Keep your sense of humor turned up and roll with the flow. <- That is the Airstream way.

Best to you and enjoy.
