Honda EU3000iS Overloading

Have air conditioner running but nothing else. Not in Eco mode. Only 10 hours or so on the unit. Good oil and stabilizer have been used.

So, any ideas why it's overloading? Is there a shot clock on how long it can run the AC? Thanks!

It could be a lot of things. When the AC compressor starts up it draws a lot power. Once running it takes less. I followed the advice on many threads in this forum and bought two 2000's. You can turn the circuit breaker off for the converter and make sure the water heater is on propane to cut down on the amount of power needed.

Switch the fridge over to LP, as well. The heating element is another 300 watts.

If your ac is an 15000 that could be a problem.

EU3000 is something like 2800 with a burst to 3000. (run specs with a perfect unit is 23.3amps) If all you are running is a 15K AC it should start and run fine.

How do you turn the breaker off for the converter?

This is correct. Which means there's either other draws on the generator, or the generator is defective and not producing rated wattage.

I run my 15K AC on a Honda EU300iHandi with no problems. I am very careful, though, about not starting it if I've got any other major electrical consumers on line. For sure I wouldn't use elec HW or microwave. Something is definitely amiss with your setup...

Interesting, the spec sheet for my 13500 ac recommends at least a 3500 generator. Anyone else read their spec sheet for their ac unit?

Wildestream, on my 25FB there is an electrical panel on the box supporting the bed. I can't remember exactly which one of the circuit breakers is for the converter but there is a diagram on the box itself and also in the owners manual. Switching the refer to propane is done on the controls behind the freezer door. It cycles through Auto, which will use either power or propane whichever is available, or just propane. There is a little green light above the display that shows which. When AC is not needed, early morning or later at night make sure to switch the converter back on to charge the batteries.

Try a hard start kit on the AC, I think there less the 100.00 dollars. years ago had some other brand and had to use a hard start kit with the same generator.

Eu 3000 works fine on my 25 FB.

How old is the generator? It has a 36 month warranty, and a properly-equipped Honda dealer can hook up a load bank to it and confirm the output is correct / within spec. If you're not sure of the age (maybe you bought it used?) drop me a PM with the serial number and I can look up some details for you:

The serial number will be in the format "EZGF-1234567"

Robert, while we've got you stopped...

I want to parallel two EU 2000i's rather than use one "regular" and one Companion. What's the suggested parallel cabling I should use to do this? I'd like to not have to have an adapter to get to the 30A RV plug.

Honda still offers an external 30A parallel kit for doing that exact job. It mounts to the front of one EU2000i, then cable plug into both. The full, 4,000 watts are now ready @ the RV receptacle on the front of the enclosure:

Honda Part Number 08E90-HPK2001, list price $199. Click here for a Google search to show Honda dealers selling it online, or use this link to find a Honda Dealer in your area: Find A Honda Dealer
