I use the Honda EU2000i. I carry it (along with the gas can, electric cables, etc.), in a large plastic container in the back of my TV, locked under a Leer cap. For me, it's a good arrangement.

I've got a Generac RV Quiet Pack mounted on a small garden trailer. It runs on propane and will power up eveything in the trailer. It fits in the bed of my TV. The Honda is a good choce if you don't need full power.

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

I have a 25FB, and travel with a pair of Honda 2000's. They work well and are dependable. I carry them in the back of my Suburban.

Your generator should meet your power requirements, rule # 1 is that you can't have a generator that's too big!

My solution is 3 generators:

#1 is a Yamaha 2400, that is set up to run on propane for when I think I'll want to run the AC.

#2 is a Yamaha 1000, just for some extra juice when the solar panel isn't quite keeping the batteries charged

#3 is an El cheapo, extra noisy Chinese generator when I need to drown out obnoxious neighbors.

Do you need 2 Honda 2000's or 1 Honda 3000 to run AC? Or will one Honda 2000 do it?

Either way.. I prefer a 3000i but, it's a heavier brut than 2-2000i. You decide.

Yes, you do. One Honda 2000 will run everything else, but it takes two to run the AC or heat pump.

I think that it would really look cool on the roof rack of your Suburban. Plus it would be properly ventilated.

You have a recent unit so a 2000i will probably run it but nothing else can be on line. Mine does fine.

new honda 3000

honda is now touting a new version of their 3000, it is lighter, NOT electric start, has a smaller fuel tank and built in wheels. it is also more expensive. go figger. I mounted my 3000 on the tongue-see thread entitled "tongue mounted generator" put a 12 gallon fuel cell below it with an electric pump so I could refuel the 3000 as req'd. I believe the 6500 will also fit the same space once all the wheels, outriggers, etc are removed. I am trying to find one of those used. as stated, you cant have too big of a gen-you CAN, however have one that is too loud.
ol' bill the newbie (with a little gen/electrical experience prior to AS)

While we're on the topic of generators... as I was taking the factory tour at Jackson Center in late July, the guide pointed out the addition of a 30 amp Marinco type connector on the front of some of the trailers on the production line. He said it was specifically made for plugging in a generator that could, theoretically, sit in the back of a truck tow vehicle. If I recall, it was located on the street side, near the bottom of the window. Think of the possibilities.

Propane Generators

Will a propane generator do the job? I was thinking that running a line to my propane tanks would be much simpler than having to carry a gas can with you.

I believe the Honda and some other generators can be converted to propane.

Honda Generators Propane and Natural gas Kits.

Propane Generators

It's not the fuel, it's just the wattage output ... I've got two multifuel generators that run on gasoline, LPG, and natural gas: one a 2400, one a 6600 watt. The big one is standby for the house - you wouldn't want it in a campground next to anyone you liked. The little one is much quieter and runs the a/c, etc. if I want, whether it's running on gasoline or LPG.
