Hi
Most of the time, when you see this or that, all of the details aren't fully available. I've run a pair of A/C units on a 30A shore power plug. No that was not intentional, but hey, it worked just fine. The trailer was pulling 33A at the time and it cooled down nice and fast.
Do that for very long and the connectors involved will have a bit short life. Indeed with the wiring at many campgrounds, the A/C units will have a short life as well.
Generators have multiple components to them. The engine puts out some amount of power at sea level running on gas. Run it on propane at altitude and it puts out less power. Brand new in great shape, the engine puts out way more than it needs to at sea level. At some point, it *does* become an issue. Inverters have electronics in them. They get hot. That makes them more likely to break. Hot sun at altitude is not going to help them. Does something trip out when they get to hot or do they just die? who knows ....
There are lots of things that can be run well past their ratings. You take a risk when you do. You should be aware of that risk.

Yea, I have been there done that also; but tripped the breaker after about 10 min. Easystart makes the job much easier on running the AC's; since I have not tried/run 2 AC's with 2 Honda 2200's, not sure the 4400W load across the 30A connector would be the way to go. I thought I read hear some folks ran a second cord/plug to use 2 AC's with 2 Honda's? Never considered trying to use just the 30A plug.

This was mentioned awhile back in this thread but not well noticed. It is worth noticing. New Honda eu3200i generator. 3200 watts. Runs a 13.5K AC without Easystart plus a lot more. Hutch Mountain has coming soon on the propane conversion kit.
Dimensions: 22.5 x 12.0 x 17.8 inches
Noise: 58 dB(A) @ rated load, 54 dB(A) @1/4 load
Weight: 59.1 pounds
Compared to eu22001i:
Dimensions: 20.0" x 11.4" x 16.7"
Noise: 57 dB(A) @ rated load 48 dB(A) @ 1/4 load
Weight: 47.4 lb.

Hardly bigger or heavier than the popular Honda eu2200i. Pricey as expected from Honda.

Interesting. I'm considering a EU3200i vs a EU2200i, same weight, more power. I only need to run one 15K AC unit, not planning to camp in the middle of summer. I'm wondering if I'd need an easy start installed with the 3200i.

The specs on the Honda website states that it will run up to 13500 btu A/C. I suspect this is based on the starting surge. So my guess is that installing a soft start on a 15500 btu A/C would be beneficial.

It is heavier. 59.1 lbs vs. 47.4 for the EU2200i. It is also louder. The engine is barely larger, 130cc vs. 121cc. It claimed output is much higher at 2600W continuous vs. 1800W, but the price. You can buy two EU2200i's for one EU3200i.

The weight is manageable, I don't want 100 lbs to heft. I'm already lifting a Propride stinger. The price is what it is. The EU2200i may run one AC with EasyStart installed, but not much else. I didn't really want to buy two generators.

Posted here before on this one...my Honda2200 with propane conversion integrated into the Honda, from Genconnex, runs my 15000AC just fine, which is reason I purchased. Two friends with Airstreams had this model, with propane also from Genconnex and were happy with performance running their AC's. I was able to try it on my 28'AS one camping trip while up in Banff few years back, so I knew it would work. I also had talked with Micro-Air tech couple years back when I still had my Champion 3400 Dual Fuel about the Easystart and the Honda 2000 since they had run a series of tests on several generators, before Honda had the new 2200, and back then, they confirmed it ran the 15000AC; so did the Yamaha 2000 back then, with the Easystart installed.
I sold my 3400 Champion Dual Fuel, primarily because it was 95lbs; primary reason. It was also a bit louder than the Honda, but not bad. I liked several features of the 3400, including remote control, and price when i purchased it was ~$800 I believe...but loading/unloading became a chore and I thought the Honda2200 at half the weight would work better for my use.
If I used my generator a lot doing more boondocking where I need my AC, I would likely get a second Honda2200 for the flexibility of running both AC's, but one works for me when needed. The 15000AC cools our 28'; just takes a bit longer than it does with both AC's going.
