Generator in Transit

Does anyone store a portable generator (small Honda, etc) strapped down on the A-frame between the LP gas tanks and the front of the trailer? Of course, will not run it there.

I tow with an SUV and don't want gas smells either inside the vehicle or the trailer.

I had a friend that built a box onto his A frame to house his Honda. Traveled all the time with it. He built the box for additional sound dampening and thief prevention.

Generator

We have a Yamaha generator and have no problem with a gas smell in the trailer when not in use. I mada a cover with a cushion on top and it is a foot rest when not in use. But it would be easier to move around if outside. Hopefully it is well secured against theft.

When we travel with our Honda 200, we transport in the van with no problem as far as gas smell goes. The gas cap has an open/close setting. At most we sometimes get a faint smell from the unit, but it is not gas.

The trick is to make sure you pack the generator really well so it does not move around during travel. When we get to destination, we take the unit out of the van.

Is this the SAFEST method? Probably not, but use your own judgement and be careful.
