Flex Solar Panel Removal

Plan to replace the existing pair of 7 yr old flex panels with rigid units this month. Existing panels are installed with 12 rivets each with sealant above/below panel. I'm guessing I'll need to drill out the rivets, and attack the remaining sealant with plastic blades. Fill the holes with one of the following-plastic plugs, plastic push rivets, or aluminum rivets, with 221 lubing and covering the chosen hole filler. Any of you fine folks gone though this and have a preferred plug method? Thanks, and hope you all are staying sane.
