Extending Generator Run Time on Gas

So took my new Yamaha 2400is to the Beach last week (texas HOT!). Filled it up turned the AC to low cool (Carrier V -13.5btu) and went to bed wondering how many hours it would run before it ran out of gas and the trailer would heat up. My guess was about 5:00 am or 5 hrs run time when I woke up and things were silent. So without switching to a propane modification, how do you extend run-time. The generator throttles up to handle the load automatically. There is no thermostat control on the Carrier 5 to keep it from constantly running. Is there a simple way to add on a external gas tank to make it through the night?

There was a thread a couple of weeks ago about adding extra fuel tanks to TV's. I saw this on one of the links, might be what you need. I had not seen one of there before.

Thanks for the posts. The price we pay to have air conditioning during the summer. Too bad the internal tanks can't make it through the night.

I tried to order the generator tank from Transfer Flow, above; and they said that they didn't know anything about the $148.07 price referenced in the PDF file above. The sales person acted like I was trying to scam him. He said the price was $254.44 and about $70 for shipping. That's approximately $325 instead of $150.

Nice tank, but their sales tactics stopped me dead. I'm now looking for alternatives. Are any of you using extended run tanks with the Honda EU200i? Which are the best?

Get an extra fuel cap for your generator and leave it hooked up to the external for ease of operation. We use one of these tanks when running out two Hondas in line and really enjoy not having to refuel every few hours. You'll love it.
