If you look at the wiring diagram the Standard outlets are in parallel with the bananna plugs. Just not fuse protected. You can get a couple extra amps that way. That is what I recall.

That is correct , either will work fine . My only caution was when using the standard outlets , if one should come out with the gen. running you would have a live end exposed.

I have read some forum posts stating that combining the 110v outlets on the two generators limits total output to 20 amps (due to circuit breaker on each generator). They state that the banana plug circuit bypasses the circuit breaker so the total output of the combined generators (26.6 amps) is available. Does anyone know if this is true?

I know it to be a fact this method can provide at least 30 amps (tested with resistive heater/blow dryer elements). Unfortunately, MCM no longer carries the shielded banana plugs and I don't know of another source for them.
