I just bought a Honda 2000EU Companion generator to use with the standard 2000 watt Honda generator that I already own. I also purchased a parallel kit for them. My question is this. Can I run both generators in Eco-mode and still power up my A/C unit? I know the initial start-up takes a fair amount of amperage to get the compressor turning. My 30' has a 15000 btu A/C unit and my 16' has a 11000 btu A/C. Any help would be appreciated!

I turn the eco off any time I know i will be turning on a high demand accessory...just seems to relieve a little strain on the unit.

Any time you stress the AC start-up you chance shortening it's life.

What I have done with ours, is as Robert suggested. Turn off eco mode when you are going to start a high-demand device. If you're going to have the a/c running for a long time, like all day, you can switch on eco mode after the a/c has been running for a few minutes. That will reduce noise and wear on the generators, without stressing the a/c. The downside to this plan is, if the a/c cycles off, you will have to run outside to switch eco mode back off before the compressor comes back on.

I'm just curious about the two different generators you have... do they really parallel ok? Ones an EU and the other standard? Don't them make different "kinds" of electricity waves... one "clean" and one "dirty?"

They are both the same generator; except that the EU Companion has a 30 AMP outlet. I believe that they both "pure sine wave" generators. I have both generators; they work perfectly for me.

Ed is correct. The "standard" is an EU2000i..and the "Companion" models is the same generator but with a 30 amp outlet incorporated. This makes paralleling much easy (you don't need the parallel "box" needed when paralleling 2 regular EU2000i gennies...just cables). We have both as well.

NOTE: With the Companion you DO need a small adapter that converts the generator's twist-n-lock 30-amp outlet to a standard 30-amp outlet required by your shore power cord.
