Compare Kipor, Honda, Yamaha quiet generators side by side

I just put this together, thought it may be useful. Trying to decide what I want to buy. Note that the prices are based on the best online deal I could find including shipping.

For your comparison, another feature you might want to add to the spreadsheet is whether or not it has the capability of running in parallel. I know the Honda 2000 and Yamaha 2400 do, but I don't think the Kipor3000Ti (2600W) does.

On paper, the Kipor looks like the "Best Bang for the Buck". If you check out previous threads here on the AirForums about the Kipor, you'll see that from the construction and quality standpoint you're looking for potential trouble.

You get what you pay for!

Your Honda 2000 prices look high Camping World is $1000 and that is high to me.The last Honda 2000 I got this spring was $964 out the door ready to run with gas and oil in it.

I lived off of my Honda 2000 for 3 months in the winter 06. I love it, at that time I bought it at a yard -garden supply store in Peoria,Az. paid about 1100.00 out the door. Quiet,reliable and very fuel efficant.

I notice in your chart that the noise levels are almost all the same between the three . I've only heard one Kipor in use , I think it was a 3000 , and to my ear it was way louder than my Honda 2000 . Not sure if that is typical , has anyone else experienced similar?

Hi, my first reaction was that the prices that you listed are too high. I paid $1075.99 for my Yamaha 2400 a few months back. That was with no sales tax, free insurance, and free shipping. The prices seemed to fluxuate almost daily. One day after I ordered mine the price dropped to $1069.99, but today on E-bay they are right at $1200.00 like you posted.
Today my "gas-can-less" devise was made and tested; So far so good. I didn't want to carry a smelly gas can in my trailer or tow vehicle. And I didn't want to spend so much for a propane kit. So I designed a system to remove gas, as needed from my tow vehicle. I have a 3' gas hose connected to my fuel rail with a ball valve at the end of the black gas hose and another 3 feet of clear hose after the ball valve. To operate this devise, I have to open my hood, start my engine, unroll the gas hoses, insert clear hose into Yamaha filler, and open the ball valve. When tank is full, close the ball valve, roll up the hoses, close the hood, and shut off my engine. This system will be put to the test in about a week in New Mexico; Actually the generator will get it's first real test at this time also.

bob, you might want to put a cap on the line from the valve (something like a short hose with a plug) just in case that ball valve starts to weep.

Bob, can't you just use the screw-on fitting and hose from the schrader valve on the fuel rail, and the fitting and hose from your fuel injection test kit? Just unscrew the cap, screw the fitting on, snap together the hose, and run the engine until the gas can (or fuel tank) is full.

Update: I was able to get the Honda EU3000is locally for the same price as I was able to find on the internet ($1650 including all taxes/fees)! So I put a deposit on one, and should get it tomorrow!

Here's what made me decide this:
- I decided on 3000watts since I want to use this for minimal backup power at home when the power is out. 2800w rated -vs- 2000w rated for the EF3000is (the other one I was close to buying)
- I know Honda is top quality and I can always get parts and service for this unit
- Resale value

Quest complete. Now I need to go dry camping here soon

Man, hope you have a truck to put it in and a hoist to put it in the back with..... Or maybe your are related to superman, and don't have to worry about such things... My wife would kill me if I bought one that heavy... Or I should say I would be lugging it around by my self....

But she makes good eye candy sitting in the chair with the kids as I set up camp....

Actually, I think it'll spend most of its time in the back of the truck while camping.

Hi, richinny. I did put a plug on the end of the clear hose, but since the ball valve was made in Italy, not China, I feel pretty safe.

Hi, overlander63. I will post some pictures of my set up; It does connect directly to the fuel rail, but I will leave it attached because I already got burned a little bit because the valve is located deep into the intake manifold area. And that is another reason for the valve. Not to mention that I can't hold the hose, watch the filler, and run to the other side of my Lincoln to turn the engine off.

In the first picture, top left, is my "Gas-Can-Less" kit. In the second picture, top right, is the connection to the fuel rail; Deep inside the intake manifold area. In the third picture, bottom left, is the storage area for the hoses and valve. In the fourth picture, bottom right, is the hose and valve hanging down as it would be when in use to refill my generator.

Please keep in mind that there is a substantial volume difference between 51db and 54 db. Our ear's perception is complicated in that respect.
