I want a simple, inverter type, MANUAL start GAS generator. I want gas because I consider it simpler, more powerful, and I don't mind carrying extra 5 gal in the back of the pickup, which has come in handy while boondocking several times. I don't want to deal with propane tanks, refilling, etc..
I also want MANUAL start because of WEIGHT, complexity, and battery issues. I only plan to start it occasionally and don't want to find the battery won't do it and I have to manually start it anyway. (I've already got several generators and know this problem first hand.) Champion has a model 100523 which is the same as that already discussed with these features. The problem is...no one stocks it. grrrr.
As I recall the 3500 was a special deal for Camping World.
It's actually the identical unit to the 3400 except for the decals. Champion claims the 3400 was underrated so they don't feel bad about the same genset being a 3400 and a 3500.
I've figured out my choke is manual, but an electric gas valve under the bowl is used as shutoff for LPG switch over and other protections, probably. Instead of a $70 replacement, I'm using the manual pull and jumper cable from nearby vehicle or trailer battery to get it running.
