What's up with AM Solar? Website is not working, not answering phone etc. I've bought stuff from them as recently as May and all the sudden poof....not able to contact them.

My dad is trying to buy some supplies from them but can't get in touch. Anyone here knowledgeable on this matter?

Hoping you get a response on this and that it turns out to be a glitch of some kind. AM Solar did my battery/solar installation 3 years ago; great job. I'd hate to think that my warranty is worthless if they've gone out of business.

That is really strange. If the website was down due to a hosting issue you’d think they’d answer phones. Hope it’s nothing serious as they’ve been a great resource to the Aislrstream community.

I sent @Lewster a PM a couple of weeks ago asking a question. He replied stating that he had retired. He was, however, still helpful with my question. He did not say that AM was closed, but I wondered.

Big blow for the DIY RV crowd. They have been a very valuable resource. They were always backordered and busy. Wonder what happened?

I was also going to ask if pteck could share any details since I don't have a Facebook account either.

With factory solar installations becoming more commonplace, I wonder if that put pressure on AM Solar's business, although there are still many DIYers. Really curious as to what happened.

I have worked with AM Solar for a long time on several RV's. Their market was the DYI RV owner and many regional small installers who sourced systems and help from AM Solar to do local installations.

More and more RV's come with some solar but lately AM Solar really seemed to be doing more with inverter and lithium battery upgrades.

There's not really more information than that. Some colorful commentary perhaps to fill the void of information, so I'll leave it at that.

There's a couple other active vendors in that thread that offered their services including Vinnies and Ultimate Airstreams.

Wow, we are screwed. We had been working with them over 3 weeks in June to get 3 of their own [guaranteed] panels replaced that had failed. The panels were installed by Lewster.

If you are in the Phoenix area you can try contacting Dylan Morrison at Superstition Solar. He used to work for them before going on his own. He did much of the work on my solar system and is very knowledgeable and does really good work. I don't know how much DIY stuff he might have, but he is very willing to work with you. Best to leave him a message (phone or email) and he will get back to you. He was a one-man shop when we were there in February, but he was talking about taking on someone else because he has so much work.

I can't add anything to the answer about what happened with AM Solar. But, for those still needing help with install I had a great experience with Boundless Power. They are Victron dealers and Ian was quite helpful when I did my Victron DIY system a few years ago.

Sorry to hear that. I didn't realize they offered their own proprietary panels. They installed Zamp Obsidian panels on my trailer so at least I have the Zamp warranty if one goes bad.

Like it or not, keeping a small business *in* business is not at all easy. We live in a world that has a lot of challenges. They come both on the "getting stuff in" and "pushing stuff out" side of a business.

On top of that, there's always going to be people in key positions. If one of them takes a hit, the business may indeed take a hit as well.

Sorry to see them go.

I placed an order for their proprietary solar panel mounts on June 23rd just three days before they closed for good. Even then they were working hard to correct a mistake the shipping department had made to get my order to me on time. This is a real sad day for DIYers everywhere.
