Airstream drilled into Zamp roof box to install GoPower panel- is that weird?

Hi all! I have a new to me 2020 Caravel 19cb. I want to add more solar to the roof so I climbed up there to see what’s going on. I was disappointed to find one 100W GoPower flexible panel up there. I was planning on adding a couple of Zamp panels because of the easy plug-and-play situation. However, I noticed that when Airstream installed the panel, not only did they do it with a bunch of screws through the roof but they also drilled through the Zamp box for the red and black wires. Have any of you seen this? Do you think they disconnected the Zamp plugs in the box? I’m really hoping not.

Doubt that is some of AS's handy work, more than likely the PO's shade tree engineering!
To my knowledge AS did not offer Go Power flex panels on any model. 2 or 3 port combiner boxes are obtainable direct from Zamp and it's an easy replacement/install.

Cheers, Tom

Post some pictures of the situation.

I have seen a brand new Caravel with a flexible panel and right beside it was a rigid panel. It seemed strange that the dealer wouldn’t just put the same type and size of panel on the roof.

If the roof port is damaged, you should be able to get a new one from Zamp and change it out without difficulty.

The work was done by Airstream LV. That’s why I’m so disappointed in the components and the work. The trailer is new to me but I bought it from a friend who is the original owner.

Thanks Peter. I’ll post photos when I can get back up there. I don’t know how I forgot to do it before 🤦🏻*♀️

Ah, another AS dealer that I would have nothing to do with, thanks for that info.

Cheers, Tom
