A recommended read for solar install

Looking for a book or great source to learn about solar install. Our main objective is to understand the terms, insure we have the knowledge to make informed decisions about the entire process. We have decided that we would like to be able to be capable of spending more time off the gird, especially when the opportunity is there. Our main objective is to be able to maintain the batteries to supply the furnace and water pump and eliminate running the generator anymore than we have to.
There is one installer on here that has been very helpful to a lot of people and pictures of his work look outstanding, and that is an option that we would consider. But we felt it important to have a grasp of the workings and enough knowledge to make sound choices in equipment for our needs.

Thanks
R&J

sidenote, I don't need the advice to check the AirForums search feature
