Wiring a Signal-Stat for bathroom light???

Our Bambi II has a automobile Signal-Stat stop/turn signal light with a clear lens for the bathroom light fixture. A good idea on Airstream's part for a fairly weatherproof light fixture in a wet bath setting.

I cannot figure out how to wire it in properly to my 12 volt circuit. It has two wires (red and brown) leading to the isolated bottom connector for the light bulb (connecting to the terminals on the bottom of the light bulb) and a green wire soldered to the outside of the light socket. There is also a toggle switch wired in to operate it.

Which wire/s should go to the positive and which wire/s should go to the common? I have tried a few combinations and keep getting shorts.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

"The difference between vintage and retro is that vintage is honestly old and cool. Retro tries to be but isn't."

The green is the common. (ground)
The higher your expectations the fewer your options.
