Why not LED lights in the stove hood?

We have a 2012 CCD Internatioal. The unit has LED lighting through out the trailer except the two lights above the stove in the range hood, they are halogen lights .

Is there a reason for not using LED above the stove?

I think I would like to replace them with LEDs but I would want to know why Airsteam used or just left the halogen lights above the stove.

Not sure why AS would have left those lights as halogen, possibly because they are typically used less than some of the others. LED replacements are available at LED4RV.

The hood comes from the manufacturer with halogen lights. Why would Airstream go to the expense of replacing them? They are easy to replace - I've done mine - and "bulbs" are available from many sources including LED4RV.

I replaced my oven light with LED unit from LED4RV. Worth every penny. Makes a nice noninvasive light. to leave on.

I replaced my range hood light with LEDs from Dan at LED4RV. First I got the warm white, which were not quite bright enough for me. Then I changed to LEDs over the range and the sink to bright white.

Why not LED lights in the stove hood?

I just replaced ours with LED. It literally takes about 2 minutes. Just be careful not to drop the lens when you take the light fixture out. The pins in the LED's fit right in where the bulbs come out. Out-of-Doors-Mart also has the LED replacements.

Hi, my range hood has a regular bulb in it, possibly an 1141? It still works after ten years. It wasn't really used much until lately. We have been using this light as a night light.

Thanks all for the replies.

I thought maybe there was a issue with heat from the stove that would affect the LEDs and that's why AS left in the halogen lights.

Thanks again!!

Changed out my hood light with led but the greatest improvement was relocating it for actually lighting the area not the aisle in front of the stove. It will make an excellent low power light without glare in the evening. AS liked visible light bulbs, we prefer indirect.

I think the heat problem would be more in the stove that others are talking about.

As others have posted....pull out those power hungry and WAYYYY too hot halogen's from your Baraldi and put in the LED's. The glass lenses unclip and the bulbs slide out....with the LED's sliding right in. They put out plenty of light and don't generate the heat that you don't want anyway.

I replaced the hood light bulb with a LED and clear cover (replacing the frosted one). It was a kit from LED4RV. Very happy with the results, more light less heat. My wife liked it so much she said she wanted to replace the over the sink light with something that would serve as more of a task light. Dan from LED4RV suggested a high/low kit and it works great. It has a two way switch so you can either have bright or dim light. She loves it.

My guess is that is the only way the hood range comes from the manufacture of the hood range. I know many folks have put LEDs there with no problems.

LED from Dan. It has the added bonus of being brighter than the incandescent that was there originally.

The factory saved themselves a few $ by cutting that corner.

I wouldn't do it LivLove. I can't stand the bright blue white light of the LEDs. So, I turn all that led stuff off and enjoy the warm glow of the hood lights on my 2012 as much as I can. I know hardly anyone will agree with me, but we don't boondock, have 2 A/CS in the 30 FC, so heat and battery doesn't matter. Am switching to under-counter incandescents when I find 12Vs I like. When we need to perform open heart surgery in the trailer, we can turn on the blast of LEDs imbedded through out the entire ceiling.

We replaced our range hood lights with warm white LEDs from LED4RV. They are very yellow,I think yellower than the originals

If your LEDs are too blue, do what photographers and theater stagehands do to soften their camera flashes and spotlights. Add a warming gel. This a piece of plastic these days— not a gel, but the name has stuck— that you can cut to fit behind the lens of your LED. They're available in all the colors of the rainbow and several in between. My guess is that this one: Amazon.com : Rosco Roscolux Bastard Amber, 20x24" Color Effects Lighting Filter : Photographic Lighting Filters : Camera & Photo might be the one best suited for your trailer, but if not, there are many similar shades that you might try. It's a lot cheaper than replacing all of your LEDs!

My 1999 Excella does not have lighting over the valances above the windows. Is that something you added or original equipment? If original, where is the on/off switch?
Thanks!
