VTS SS License Plate assembly electrical problem????
Looking for some direction.... license plate bracket does not work installed. If I touch the hot wire to a battery and ground the bracket on the battery it lights up!! When I install the bracket it will not light up!!??? Volt meter shows 11ish Volts when installed if I test the bulb base and ground to the installation screw or any part of the bracket.

Ok figured it out and this is what I found. When you remove the old License Plate assembly they used a lot of grey sealant and there is not much access to the hot wire. I must have pulled a little too much on the wire before I got it loose from the goo and stretched it slightly causing resistance???(electrical guys correct me if that is not correct)
I kept getting a voltage reading of around 10-11 volts and it would not light the bulb! If I touched the light to the battery and grounded it boom bulb would light up.
So I started slowly cutting about a inch off the hot wire at the license plate until I got it to test out at 11.9 volts and bam it would light up. Reinstalled bracket and all is good. I still had 4 plus inches of wire to place back in the cavity where the hole its.
If anyone else runs into this hope this helps. Also you can stick your finger in the hole and feel around for the excess wire so you know how much is stuck in the sealant when you gently remove the wire from the sealant.
VTS Stainless Light is spot on and good quality. Do not over tighten to the chassis or the dome is difficult to line up and tighten to the base as well.
