vintage cone-shaped interior lights

I apologize in advance for posting this question because I know it has been asked before, but I simply cannot find it in the archives.
All four dual cone-shaped lights in my ’67 TW have pulled out of the sockets on the twin bases. How do I get them back in and keep them there? Brute force doesn’t work. Please somebody point me to a thread or tell me how to fix them before I grab a hacksaw and commit unspeakable acts on these hard-to-find originals.
The photo shows them in the “in” position but they won’t stay there, they just keep popping out when I adjust them.

Me too!

I too need to find a way to keep these round swivel balls in their sockets. Please take pity on Rog and I and post how you fixed this problem. I heard from another member that there was a fix here sometime back or that someone told him the way to fix these lamps. It involved two pins and a spring but he was unable to point me to who provided the fix info or exactly the procedure to rebuild these reading lamps. Ed

Anybody know where to find the thread? I've searched but to no avail.
I'm going to use Sugru if I can't find it.

Fixed all my cone lights with the aid of Sugru moldable glue yesterday. I chose grey color.
It worked like a dream. It does have about a 24 hour cure time.
I'm very happy with this fix as I could not find any information on actually fixing the ball and socket. 😊

I cleaned all parts with rubbing alcohol prior to adding the Sugru.

Thanks so much for the tips on keeping these lamps together!
Silly question - how do you change out the bulb from these fixtures? I am not able to locate a service manual for our 1966 Safari and the owner's manual does not mention this... I also do not want to cause damage to our fixtures, but this is making me batty!!

Push in on the bulb & turn. It will come right out.

Thanks so much - they must just be a little set in their ways. Didn't want to break one off!
