Tail light housing on '65 Overlander

I'm a proud owner of a 65 Overlander, and I know that besides weather proofing the exterier, Im still fighting the urge to polish her. That said, I have fabricated various items to improve her;aluminum vent covers, and I'm in the middle of fabricating a A/C shroud, out of aluminum in the classic compound curves as the front of the trailer. The whole reason for my post, is to ask for info on the braklight housing. It looks like it is aged fiberglass, without the gelcoat. Was this a prior owners repair, or just 40 years of wear?
Any info would be greatly appriciated!
P.S. (I have all owners manuals and applience pamflets)

The 1965 tail light housings are vacuum formed plastic.

Unfortunately, there is no replacement.

You can however, plate the quarter panels, and then install later model tail lights, or LED's for that matter.

The tail light bezel can be updated.

Owners do not want to pay the cost of making a handfull of them.

Molds are not cheap to make.

1965 Plastic Taillight Housings

The information is still accurate but we are working to solve it. We have two originals which we have sent to our thermoform shop. We are waiting on a quote. The tooling is expensive on this one because the left and right units are different so two forms are required. In addition, 1965 is the only year that used them and installation is difficult. That means demand is low. We should know more about this project in the late winter.

Every now and again, I see the old smaller "U-Haul" trailers going down the road that appear to has the same housing (maybe a source). You could also find a set of the aluminum ones used on the 66-68 model years (but I think it was only the International models that had them, non-International models had the standard round)

Enjoy,
