super cheap l.e.d. tester

If you like to fool around with l.e.d.'s ( and who doesn't), you can make a simple power supply or tester out of an old cell phone charger. It just so happens that cell phone batteries charge at @ 4.5 VDC–just what the average l.e.d. likes to have. A couple of clip leads or a clip and a probe will make it easy to check out l.e.d.s

Excellent idea! I suppose this would also work with a DC voltage converter that I have which has 3/4.5/6/7.5/9/12vdc settings.

It depends of the current capacity of your charger. If the LED current is not limited by a resistor it will simply blow up. A 1k resistor with a 12 volts supply works fine.

Thanx for the tips. I love playing with LED's. I'm working on converting Lucy's running lights to LED's.
