Greetings Tim and Cin! We are glad to have you with us on AirForums.

I have a 2013 trailer, and I have the opposite problem: my light no longer works. I never used it anyway, so I have not tried to fix it.

I know your problem has been discussed on AirForums before; multiple people have reported it on late model trailers. I don't know if there is any easy fix, but someone will probably come along soon with better information.

Good luck and I hope you are enjoying your 27 footer.

Same problem with us. We have been waiting since May (4 months now) for the light to burn out. Airstream spared no expense on that little light bulb but cut corners on the switch.

Why not just remove the bulb?

Great idea but I’m now obsessed with finding out how long the bulb will burn 24/7.

If it's like ours, (a push on/off LED) you can pull the light out and cut the ground wire. There should be 4 wires going to the light; keep pulling until you see 2 just wires. Cut the ground wire. I would put a short U bend in both cut ends and hook them on to each other and tape over them. That way you can shove the wires back in and secure your light in place, and would be able to get to that cut ground wire if AS ever comes up with a better light that won't come on at random.

I'm second guessing which one is the ground as I don't have my trailer here. I replaced my light with an LED light and separate switch and I'm fairly certain the white/black is backwards from the rest of the trailer which has white ground wires, but... I've slept since then.

Anyway, easy enough to test with a voltmeter or test light.

Until you can “fix” it… Pull the bulb

Replace the switch yourself…. It’s not that hard…

If you cut wires, cut individually leaving as much wire as possible!!! Do not allow them to touch. Then secure individually with an insulated connector on each the tape properly. This will keep them protected minimizing the chance of a “short” you may never be able to resolve…. Among other more significant issues.

The next caretaker will appreciate these steps…

There is no bulb to pull on these push button LED lights.
If you cut the ground wire, there is nothing to short but to ground.
I didn't suggest removing any wire. All the length will be there if you just cut and secure together until needed later.

My dealer replaced the magic F&@ing light at no cost. It still turns on randomly somehow. I’ve never used the light on any trailer because I own several flashlights.LoL
I finally had my dealer disconnect it. Also no cost
