Sewer light goes on every night

Just got my new flying cloud 27 and I noticed the sewer light is coming on every night. I go out and push it in to shut it off. Any ideas? Is this supposed to come on ever night? I’m currently on shore power

We have a similar issue with our 2022 Basecamp 20. Doesn't happen every night, just once in a while. I can't come up with a hypothesis as to why. Had the same issue with our 2021 Basecamp.

I have the same issue with my 2022 30FBB. When I made the purchase, we spent the night on the dealers lot and noticed the same thing happening with the 2022 GT that was parked next to us.

I informed the service manager and he said he’d check it out, I got busy and didn’t follow up before making the drive home.

Hi, Airstream used junk switches and junk lights on the sewer lights, at least on mine, they did. I replaced the light with a sealed marine LED light. I also replaced the switch with a completely sealed toggle switch.

Robert, this is my 3rd Airstream and 1st time having this issue. It’s one of those small things that make you question your sanity. Lol. I remember during my walk thru the salesman made the comment, “I know I just turned this thing off”
As he turned it off once again.

Has anyone actually used that light? I haven't.
I wonder how common dumping in the dark is?
I think I'd take the bulb out.

I agree, remove the bulb. People who dump at night usually do not want to be seen...

I've used mine a couple of times when the gray water tank got too full. A flashlight would probably work better, but hey, my hands are free.

Hi, probably for about ten years, I never used this sewer light. But I would randomly test it and find out it was not working, so I would repair it. Finally, I replaced the light with a sealed marine LED. Later, I found a fully sealed toggle switch. After 17 years of ownership, I actually used this light a few times. Whether I use something or not, I don't like things that don't work.

A better solution is the "head light", an elastic band with a LED light that you wear on your head. That way, you look goofy, but you have light everywhere you look. I've even used it to cook outside; for instance at Topsail Hill, it gets dark at 5:30. Handy!
Mine is from Harbor Freight because I'm cheap, er, frugal.

I've used headlamps like this for years. This winter I saw a neighbor out at night with one like this:

It casts a nice pool of light all around your head, so you don't have to turn your head to put the spot of light on what you're looking at. I bought one a few days later like it. It's very handy.

Funny timing on this thread. I used the light just today while I was making upgrades to my sewer hose connection point. Really does a great job of lighting the area, and I could see how it would be handy if we had to bug out early, or if someone filled the tank taking an evening shower.

Up to now the only use I could think of for it was to light up the sewer hose so that no one tripped over it.

This thread makes me laugh. I have had the same issue and spent WAY too much time trying to figure out what makes it happen. Generator, plugged in, battery? Does it happen if I turn on the head light? Is my wife trying to get me committed and sneaking around to turn it on at various times of the day or night….? I will figure it out….one day.

Looks like I've joined the club... on my new 27FB, the sewer connection light randomly turned on several times on the last trip. The dealer looked at it and could not duplicate, so they won't do any more. If someone figures this out, please post!!

I’m still a member as well. Was camping last week and turning the light off became a morning routine. Funny thing is I didn’t have sewer at the campground so there was no need to be going over there other than turning off the light.

Same thing here. New 2023 Airstream 23FBT, same issue, sewer light comes on randomly all the time, seems to be mostly at night. Can't figure it out...
Would be nice to find a fix on this forum.

Same thing on our 2022 30' FC. We contacted Jackson Center about it and they sent us a new light. Had the dealer swap it out and ever since then it goes on less frequently, but it still comes on. Clearly a bad design or something with that light and its switch.
