Scare Light Trim Ring
Hello friends,
I am looking to replace the exterior plastic "chromed" trim ring on scare light
I replaced it in the last but I can't seem to find the previous vendor. Anyone have a source?
Thanks,

I have not seen a source for just the ring.
Mine did shine up nicely with some Mother's metal polish!

Unfortunately, mine is past the "polish" stage. I have seen vendors who sell the combo but t don't need to replace the light.
Too bad a real chrome/metal ring isn't available.
Oh well, sandpaper and spray paint is next.
Thanks,

Try searching Amazon for a “bezel” in the appropriate size. ?

Scare light trim ring
Mine was getting corroded as well, I bought the whole light from colonial. Getting that trim piece back on was almost impossible - any one have a trick?

I actually wondered how to remove it. Does it twist? Pop off? I’ve been afraid to exert too much force for fear of breaking it.

I haven't taken that ring off, but I know that the trim rings on the tail lights just have 4 prongs holding them in place - 2 on top and 2 on bottom - as I recall from when I replace them.
Yes, THESE trim rings are available by themselves! I found them at LED4RV.com.

As suggested by Bearstream01, I did a deep dive in Amazon and found the replacement trim piece
Will attach it after I give it a few coats of wax

Let us know if this works and if you had any problems removing the old one and installing the new piece.

I think if you order the replacement part and look how it’s designed you should be able the determine how to remove the old part. Just saying!

Trim replacement
Update: purchased replacement trim for the scare light and the rear lights.
Removal of old pieces was easy since I was worried about breaking them. Easy to pry off once you get a finger under one side. Used a plastic scraper to start and protected the skin with a piece of cloth.
New pieces popped right on.
Had already put a few coats of this "chrome" protector on the pieces and added another coat after installation. Maybe this will delay the corrosion.
A few before and after pics follow

Hey, thanks, AZStreamer!
Got mine replaced, though it was a little tough to get the old one off!

You're right. Considering how quickly they tarnish, they are remarkably tough
Once I got one edge up I just wedged my fingers underneath and forced them off
Since they were going into the garbage anyway I wasn't concerned about breaking them. Only that I protected the AS skin.
The results were worth it.

I have a question I think you can help with. How do you get the chrome ring off? I don't want to break it.

I used blue painters tape to protect the AS skin. Then I used a plastic paint scraper to lift an edge before wedging my finger(s) under a section of the trim ring
There are 4 flange bits holding the trim ring to the base.
Once you release one of the flanges you should be able to pop the others
As I said before, since the trim rings are about $6 on Amazon I wasn't worried about breaking it
If the trim ring is oldish, There is a good chance that removing it will result in some damage. These rings are only plastic - not metal.
Good luck.
