Running lights on ??

I've seen in pics on different sites at rallies that AS's have there running lights on while parked & not hooked to the TV I have an idea how this done but just wanted to check here and see what others do I'm sure there's a sure fire simple approach that has been figured out so why would I want to reinvent the wheel.
Thanks

Ps
Our new FC 28 arrives in April and we can't wait 😊

I'm sure you could make an adapter to fit into the 7 pin connector and power it by a 12 v. supply/battery/charger, etc.
Although I've never done it. I don't think you can power only the running lights without the tail lights. Maybe if they're LED the drain on a 12v. battery is negligible.

Dragline-

Easy, when camping, just put a 5 amp "blade" fuse across slots #3 and #4 on the umbilical cord you plug into the tow vehicle (looking at cord end with the nub up). That connects the running/taillights to the 12v supply of your coach.

We do it a lot. Hope this helps.

Or you can go fancy and make up a wiz bang gizmo. They are a couple of companies that make the expensive gizmos. I made up a gizmo out of parts from around the shop. Spare 7 pin plug, few inches of wire, short length of PVC pipe and a fuse. I also have a flasher that can be put in line for roadside emergencies. Painted it orange because I had a can. Total cost zero.

I did what 'Shiny Pete' did; a fuse across 3&4.
I soldered a piece of 14ga. Wire to the fuse tabs for Easter installation.

Also, convert running lights to LEDs and you can power them up for days on end with the coach battery and the 3-4 jumper. Amazon has 12 packs of LEDs for low price.

There are a few products out there that are just a knob that you plug into your 7-pin. I guess it connects the circuit and keeps the lights on.

This isn't the one I bought (I can't locate the website for the company where I bought mine), but it came up with a Google search: http://www.rvglow.com/

Why didn't I think of that? Simple, genius.

I do this same thing, except I used a spare 2' adapter cable. Same deal with the fuse. Funny how the fuse is just exactly the right size to fit, too, lol.

The only time I hear the fan running on my PD converter is when I jump the exterior lights they suck a lot of power. I have swaped all the interior lighting to LED. Never got around to the exterior.

Does the "pin jumping" trick also turn on the rear camera?

Yes...the rear camera on all new model Airstreams is powered through the running lights. It's wired that way from the factory.

I guess you could bring the monitor inside with you and watch what's going on outside.

You can also use a 552 electronic flasher in those same pins to make all the running lights blink. "Canadian Christmas Lights". I'm sure you'd be the hit of the campground if you did this...
I wouldn't recommend doing this with any that have the backup camera connected to the running lights, at best, the camera would probably not like being powered up 2-3 times per second...

Yep, same here. I'm getting that "squeaky" sound reported in another thread on the PD4655, but only when I have the exterior lights on. I'm either going to pull the PD4655 and check the fan or else convert the exterior lights to LED. I haven't decided which yet.

We have been doing it with an automotive fuse for years. It's really easy and costs almost nothing. See photo.

After reading this, I bought a 552 flasher; didn't work.
The LEDs just came on dim, but no flashing. FOOO!

running down batteries?

I have tied this a couple of times, but after the last time, I got back to my AS and the batteries were completely dead. It was connected to shore power for a month, so I thought it would recharge the batteries at the same time??? I used a 10 fuse to bridge the gap and left them on all night. Not sure what happened.

I have a 2017 Serenity 19 with all LED lights and with a back up camera. I took the batteries into Interstate for testing. Hoping they are ok or I can get a warranty replacement.

Any thoughts?

What batteries do you have and what are the manufacture dates?
Label should be on the batteries with dates.

I have the Interstate deep cell that came with the AS. 12 volt parallel. I bought the AS in December 2016 and have not used the batteries to boondock. The batteries were dated 2015. They are still under warranty and I may get a new pair out of the deal.
