For night vision, it is good to have red lighting.
"No white lights" is a rule at star parties.

I converted the step light and added 3 rows X 1' long LEDs at the back of the step well.

Adding (designing) awning marker lights to save my head.
They will be about 1 meter long and will be powered by 12V tapped off of the step light. I found that u-channel from lows makes a nice aluminum marker light housing. This way they look like they belong on the AS. I will put some outdoor velcro at both ends and hang them on the angled awning poles.
I bought a 3 channel RGB PWM dimmer on Amazon to control brightness (repurposed from an astronomy project).

I also found that white PVC pipe make a great diffuser, but its not so aesthetically pleasing during the day. At night it looks awsome. Sorry its out of focus.

The light fixture under the kitchen cabints is modifed to obtain power for LEDs and hold a new switch for red LEDs.
