Replace Scare light
I've decided it's time to replace the scare light. All it does is blind me and use up the battery. Anyone have photos of a vintage-looking design that can provide good ground illumination without beaming you in the eyeballs? I'm thinking flyfshr's Juno 12 track light connector in place of the scare light, then you could mount whatever you wanted when you parked. Other ideas? Photos?
Is this blasphemy?

Blasphemy? No. It's your trailer.
I do like to use mine occasionally when I'm setting up in the dark, otherwise I use my porch light over the door for longer term illumination.
I would hang on to the old one in case it was important to any future buyer.

It's a round, bright light near the door. I'll go get a photo.

There are a lot of different styles of solar garden lights to chose from.

You can replace the incandescent bulb with a continuous-rated LED. it will not be quite so bright, and much easier on the battery. Problem solved with a minimum of alteration.

Dave summed it up beautifully with his picture.
What, I think, needs to be mentioned is that the scare light is NOT intended for continuous operation. Prolonged operation will melt/distort the exterior lens.

Actually, I'd like more light on the ground near the Caravel, the footstep, and forward toward the pickup tailgate. My Caravel doesn't have the over the door light like I have on the Overlander and Sovereign.
I'm going to use flyfshr's idea of modifying a track light to plug into the 115V outlet on that side, but that would only help when hooked up, and then you usually don't need a lot of extra light anyway.
So I'm thinking of a small hood like the over the door lights have, maybe looking a lot like the rain hoods over the stove vent up on the roof, but not quite as big.

I scuffed the surface of mine with a Scotch-Brite pad which made it much less glaringly bright. Next step will be an LED bulb, but I haven't gotten to that yet.
