Hi All,

5 amber in the front and 5 red in the rear.
If there was any on the sides, it must also be amber.
The tail and back up lights which are 4 1/8 inch in diameter, are also available in LED's.

Mine is a 79 Safari and I have 5 amber in the front and 5 red in the rear. I recently installed LED's and purchased Grote bullseye's off ebay. The unique part about these particular lights is that they have clear lenses, which I like. Only when they light -up , do they show as red or amber.
I will try to post a link to the ebay site.

Totoro,
Could you post a pic of your trailer with the Grote clear lenses installed?
Thanks

It's funny that you ask, I had just texted my wife to see if she had taken any pictures of the lights, but no luck. I am out of town, but I will take some tomorrow and post. I can tell you that the holes were a perfect match with the original, and the led's are sealed. I bought screws that were about 1/4" longer for the application. It took about four hours.

Here are some pics of the clear LED's. The photos really don't show the vibrance of the colors.

As Andy says above you do not have an option with the colour of the marker lights. You see we have these laws.....
However what I really wanted to mention is that those led stop and tail lights are really great and well worth the price of the upgrade.

Truckirwin,
I installed all new LED clearance lights which I purchased from your referenced vendor: vehiclelights.com
These are the only double bulls-eye lights on the market that have a recessed void on the bottom to tuck the wires and connectors so that you can mount the lights flush against the skin of the Airstream.
Patterson and Grote double bulls-eye lights have no recess--the bottoms of these lights are flat and level to the edge --no place to tuck wires underneath. I have seen a posting on this forum where someone overcame this problem with the Grote lights by drilling a strategically placed holes through the bottom of the light to match up with the wires coming up through the skin of the airstream and the connections are made on top with the wires are tucked away right there on top under the lens with the LEDs.
Stick with your vehiclelight.com units if you want a sensible and easier installation. These 16-LED units are bright and a breeze to install.

Yes we have laws, enough laws in my opinion. Ohio law requires:
Trailers must carry, either as part of the tail lamps or separately, 2 red reflectors.
Trailers must be equipped with at least 1 red tail lamp visible from 500 feet to the rear and a white light to illuminate the license plate and render it visible from at least 50 feet from the rear.
Trailers must be equipped with at least 2 stoplights, visible from 500 feet to the rear.

Great information about the LED lights. I have been thinking about changing all the outside lights to LED. I had thought that I would replace the bulbs, but after seeing this thread it looks like it might be better to replace the whole lighting unit. My husband is concerned that the fixture wouldn't fit our AS.. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated..

Vickie.
There are LED replacements that look exactly like the incadescents, and are far cheaper than the bulbs.

I called vehiclelight.com and it looks like I can replace all of my running lights with direct replacements. I was also interested in replacing the back-up and brake lights, but was told that because of the curve their these May not be available. I asked him about just replacing the bulbs with LED, but he said the cover is different than the ones used for LED lights. Then yesterday I went to our local Trailer and hitch store and the salesman said that's not true. That I can just replace the bulbs..
Does anyone know if which guy is correct? Can I just change out the bulbs to LED for my brake and back-up lights?

Oh, and how difficulty is it to change out the running lights? Neither my husband nor I are very mechanical, but if it's not too hard I would like to save the couple hundred dollars the man quoted for labor..

Vic,
I would suggest removing the lens cover, and going up to you local store with the bulb in hand. Pretty much all the auto parts stores as well as the trailer stores have led bulbs on the shelf as direct replacements. I was looking at the ones at auto zone this last weekend.
If they fit and work, great, it they don't work you can take them back....

My running and clearance lights are 194, is there any reason that I can't just use one of the LED replacement. Look's to me as if they are wedge type, they are pretty cheap on eBay, if you buy packs of 10 or 20.
Advice is welcome.

I am about to replace all of my running lights with new bulls eye led's on my '85 Excella ( 1 -wire fixtures) . Which sealant should I use when mounting them?
