Name for front exterior lights

What is the name of the front exterior lights on a trailer? they seem to be for visibility, maybe courtesy lights? Does anybody know where i can find a diagram of the lights on a 72 Sovereign? I’m guessing generic Airstream or generic trailers have similar lighting names - looking to replace with leds but need to know what brightness to use.

It sounds like you are asking about the "Scare Light". To replace that bulb. Remove the cover, extract the bulb, Go online and look up something like SuperBrightLEDs . com and cross reference yours to a new LED replacement.

https://www.superbrightleds.com/cat/...0aAk7iEALw_wcB

Here is a related thread with some more info: https://www.airforums.com/forums/f44...nt-162719.html

As far a brightness, I would get the brightest LED they offer. It being LED should not melt your lens cover if it is plastic because LED's do not produce a lot of heat. I replaced my scare light and used a Signal-Stat 3600 with a clear lens. It uses a 1157 dual element type bulb and Low/High switches.

Sorry, no help on a wiring diagram for your particular unit. Someone else may chime in with that.

Hope that helps.

i probably should have included a photo - i think i know what you mean by the scare light, which seems to be by the door. i would call these running lights of some sort but “running lights” may just refer to the rear lights so my searches were pretty fruitless. i need covers as well. "Running lights" works IMO.

https://www.amazon.com/rv-running-li...running+lights

Or marker lights:

Do you have your 1972 owner's manual . . . is this one close?

https://www.airstream.com/wp-content...-manual-52.pdf

-- Page 23 [PDF p. 27/66] has an exterior photo and "A" is labeled "Clearance Light"
-- Page 53 [PDF p. 57/66] refers to "clearance . . . lights" in the bulb specs. [Bulb 1895]

There are outlets for vintage Airstream parts but that is above my pay grade . . . maybe these?

Good luck.

ah, thanks, seems like they may be marked “cluster lights” in some places - maybe because they are in a cluster? and that marker lights above the windows were yellow and below were red. Does that make sense?

I used to work for a trucking company, we called them marker lights. Amber are in the front and red are in the back, lights or reflectors. It's the law in most states, probably all of them. I've never seen any other colors in many years of driving.

VTS carries several different LED versions of vintage Airstream Marker Lights...although, it looks like they are out of the amber ones right now.

I've bought clearance lights at Wally world and Harbor Freight that match the old ones on my 86.

In the Globetrotter parts manual, ours are called "LED clearance light, Amber".

For light fixtures that are hard to find. Take one off and go to NAPA if they don't have one in stock it can probably be ordered.

Those should be listed as double bullseye marker lights, in Amber for the front.
I replaced mine with cheap ones from Amazon, and they didn't last long enough to put the interior in, I ended up replacing them all again.
because of the style of that light, there isn't a sealed shut version, the lens is always replaceable. In the version I found the LED board was potted into the base so all the led are stabilized on the board and sealed, the lens is just a superficial cover. because I also had my interior out, I ran real grounds to the lights instead of them being grounded to the shell also.
