Mystery solved / 2016 19 Ft FC lost taillamps & red side marker

I recently lost my taillamps and side marker lights but all other lighting was functioning. Turns out the wiring harness for these lights along with a connection plug run under the shower pan of my 2016 19 foot flying cloud. The plug had become corroded leading to the failure. Evidently this type of plug is used on several model airstreams which have been compromised due to corrosion.

Interesting. Any thoughts on what might have caused it to corrode? I would have thought it would be well protected in that location.
