Light Fixture Removal

Anyone know how to remove the halogen hockey puck light fixtures from the ceiling in a newer trailer? I can get the lens off for bulb replacement, and can see the spring on the side of the light can holding the fixture in the inner skin, but can't see how to get it out.

Thanks for any help!

If you want to remove the entire fixture, you have to very carefully pry it out at the outer ring. It's easy to scratch the skin or the fixture. I used a knife blade to pry out. I did this 2 years ago, so my memory is fuzzy, but I believe you have to hold one spring in while then prying out the other side and gently but firmly pulling down until you get both springs out. Those springs can hurt your fingers as well as the aluminum skin.

Dan,

I wanted to post here how helpful you have been. Thanks again for sending the link to the video on removing the light. It also helped that your website has so many great photos of the fixtures. At first I wasn't at all sure how hard to pull on the light. Those springs have a lot of tension but it helped having some idea of what they look like and how they work. In spite of Katie's warning in the video, I still managed to get a finger in the wrong place. Those springs have a good snap to them.

Instead of removing the bulb or in this case the LED chip, I cut the positive lead, capped it and taped the loose ends to the other wire. That way everything is in place if we decide to hook it up again. Now the bathroom switch turns on ONLY the bathroom light, not the lights over the sink.
