led running lights anyone?

Has anyone replaced their running lights with LEDs? I've got an 03 Safari that seems to suck water into all the running lights no matter what I do. I talked to AS about this, they have recommended 1) sealing them up with caulk, 2) drilling drain hole in the lens. Kinda weird if you ask me. Anyway, I'm a big believer in keeping water away from things electric and I was wondering if there are any LED clearance lights that would fit on an AS. Oh yeah, I've looked at LOTS of other late model Safaris, CCDs, and Classics and it looks like mine is not an isolated case. Thanks,

Jack

Hey Jack,

I'm with ya! I have a new '06 Bambi 19' and I plan to replace all of the runners with LED's, as well as a bunch of the interior lights as well. Halogens are great ( the CCD has lots of them) but rather than 10 watts per bulb I can run the whole beast on 10 watts with LED's. I have several inquiries out now and will keep the forum updated as soon as I get some samples in to test.

Thanks Lew,
If you find a clearance/running light in LED that fits PLEASE post the particulars. Thanks again,

Jack

If you are looking just for LED bulbs, go to eBay and do a search for "194 led". The bulb base used most commonly for running lights is a 194 base and there are plenty of LED lamps made for this.

thanks, as I said in the post I'm looking for complete clearance/running LEDs to replace the factory 12v incandescents that are prone to filling with water.

"... it looks like mine is not an isolated case."

Jack,
It's true, when I was replacing the rusty clearance light screws on my 05 Bambi with stainless ones, I noticed that every all of them had water. Caulking and drilling holes doesn't seem like a viable solution for a new trailer.

I replaced all the running lights on my Mh with full LED units from led-r-us in florida. They run 8 bucks each and are fully sealed. They will screw into the same holes the old ones did and look just like the standard grote maker light.
