how about using a mix of regular and LED bulbs? it would give a mix of less current draw and a more customary color of light. on some of my fixtures i could put LEDs on the low side and 1141's on the high side. i had some 1141's that were a bit hotter than rated. they put nice little round windows in some of the covers

A very good idea, a hybrid approach to lighting.
