6000K color temperature might be too blue for some. I know that ARTSTREAMs 3100K "white" LEDs looked really great to me, very white, not yellow at all.Zep

You can contact: earthleddistribution@earthled.com for G4 LED replacements. They sent me one to try. They have cool or warm white and are here in the USA, Florida to be exact. After seeing the vinyl under the gold "puck" that was turning brown from the halogen heat, we have decided to go with LEDs in these lights. This company is talking with Airstream about using their lights. When I first contacted them they were not making the 12" LED light to replace the fluorescent tubes but after checking, Mark said they shouldn't have a problem doing it.

I have not seen any feedback about that dealer's LEDs.

That is a great price for cool white with 40-60 lumens. The Super Bright LEDs are also from China. My G-4 warm white high power LEDs as seen in Silvergate's photos emit 120 lumens.

I am eager to hear about the experience of others with different brands/dealers of LEDs.

We are camping at the beach today. Happy trails to all,
Larry

The LED that EarthLED sent me was the warm white and I believe it has 125 lumen output. They have a cool white that is 150 lumen. So far I really like the one we are trying out. They aren't cheap BUT the G4s are $6 each and so are the fluorescent tubes that seem to go out once a year. So in the long run the LEDs are cheaper and last alot longer

The G4 LED replacements just plug in the same as the G4 bulb, nothing else needs to be done with them.

So, they will work in the same sockets I already have, then? What's the big warning on their sites then about power supplies (that they appear to sell)?

I would imagine that it is for the fluorescent tubes but for the G4 bulbs, you just pull out the G4 bulb and push in the new LED square, it has pins just like the G4. The tube lights, we'll just have to see what they come up with. With Airstream, they have replacements for the tubes but you have to hard wire them in before the ballast, they come in a set of 2 for $49. Do't know what EarthLED want for them yet.

After about 4 weeks traveling, we are very happy with the LED's we got from lewster and Superbright. Superbright sells an amazing number of bulbs through many pages of a complicated website and it took some time to figure out which ones I wanted, but eventually I got it right.

Provides the proper level of lighting, uses far less power, and the color rendition is fine.

I've just replaced all the cabinet lights in my new 19' International with superbright LED's and am very happy with the outcome. They no longer burn hot (and no longer endanger the contents of my cabinets!). I've ordered replacements for all the lights in the cabin (thanks to the advice on this thread) and look forward to better battery life as I'm finding I'm spending most of my camping at state parks without hook-ups. Thanks to everybody in this thread for your advice/assistance - the biggest challenge is getting the covers off the ceiling halogen pucks!

It gets easier with experience. I used a Swiss Army knife blade to separate the inner ring being careful not to let it slip and scratch anything Once I had a space in there, I used a screwdriver to further separate it.

Alaint, I've been on the road for about 4 weeks and will be getting home today. It'll take a while for me to get to finding the receipts (unpacking, catching up on all sorts of stuff), but I'll look it up when I can. Welcome to the Forum.

From superbrightsleds.com

For all the Halogen "puck" lights in ceiling, cabinets and hood over the stove:

Product: G4-WHP10-D White LED lamp $ 14.95 (each)
Options: Warm White G4-WWHP10-D

For the 2 reading lamps over the dinette:

Product: G4-WHP15-T White LED Lamp $ 16.95 (each)
Options: Warm White G4-WWHP15-T

For a 2009 19' international, these are the only 2 bulbs you need to replace all the interior bulbs. I didn't yet replace any of the exterior (running or porch light over the door)

Alain,

Back home and found the info on the replacements for the incandescents. As I posted before I got the halogen replacements from lewster.

I got LED bulbs for the 1141's over the dinette table, kitchen counter, bathroom and shower. They were around $22 each (I got a weaker one for a night light on one side of the kitchen counter lamp and that cost around $13). They have to be affixed with double sided tape. I got these from superbrights.com and the product is 1156-PCB-WHP9 warm white. The one for night light is 1156-PCB-W24 wide (this one has the bluish color, the others are pretty much like halogens). We have had no problems on a 4 week trip with any of the LED's. I would avoid the cheap ones as those appear to be the ones with problems. Some of the fixtures have 2 incandescent bulbs, but we replaced one and don't use the other and there's plenty of light (the one over the sink is the exception where we used two different LED's).

I went to a local automotive store and checked on the LED light replacements.....$17 bucks for 2! We need 24......! I guess that will go on the bottom of our list.

I think I'm going to test a few LED lights on my next trip. My 1981 Excella 2 has the 1156 bulbs so I've looked at a few options. I'd like to ask a couple of questions for those of you who have made the change.
It seems that I could order the replacement LED bulbs in either on a flat 2 dimensional mirrored surface or in 360 degree spherical pattern similar in shape to my existing bulbs. Which style would disperse the light better?
I also need to choose how many LEDs I want in each bulb as they have from 9 to 63 bright white LEDs in each bulb to choose from. I was leaning toward ordering some 36 count, and 63 count bulbs.
How many LED's would be too bright?
At what point would the LEDs take as much power as the 1.44 amps being drawn from my current 1156 bulbs?
I hope to order these over the weekend to have them ready for my next trip starting on June 4th.

Thanks: Charlie
