LED Awning lights

Anyone have any experience recommendations re LED awning lights?

I was thinking about just buying an LED rope light and clipping it to the edge of the awning ot sure if they would be bright enough to be of any practical use?

I haven't seen anyone using anything like this but it seems to me it would be a natural application.

I bought a few sets after Christmas at K-mart...
Blue and they put out just the right amount of light.
Hope to get some white this year for somewhere inside.

I have the blue rope lights too and they are bright enough for me to do stuff around the picnic table. I was just going thru my stuff today and saw them and put them at the top of the box so I don't forget to use them.

Thanks guys, that sounds encouraging. I think I will try to find the "warm: white though. We bought LED xmas lights and they were supposed to be white but in that era ( a few years ago) white was more like blue and the mrs has never forgiven me - I think we bought 8 sets!

I found rope lights recently at a local store and initially thought they were led's but when i looked closely they were tiny incandescent bulbs. I imagine led's would be more reliable.

I will look for a 110v set - could always use a cheap inverter if I wanted to run them on 12v as thet wouldn't take much current.

I use the 115v clear rope lights. They are good enough to see everything but not overpowering. These can be used with a dimmer as well. I use them alot in my work, so I buy it by the spool from 1000 bulbs.com.

This is a very old post, but I see that 1000 bulbs.com is still in action. They still have the spools but how does one go about cutting rope to length and applying ends.
Thanks

Doug
