Interior Lights
Interior lights
Hi. 2003 Safari 25ss. I decided to replace my old inside lights. The lenses on the old ones would sag down and look loose. I was always pushing them back up. I fussed over many styles and suppliers but the decisions came down to... a) I wanted standard replacement bulbs that I could get anywhere. b) I wanted a base that would cover the old indentation in the headliner. c) I wanted the lenses to be more secure. d) I wanted them to look as good, or better than the originals. With all that I ended up with the Arcon brand, #18123, from RVUpgrades. They also have the matching single fixture, and matching dim-able fixtures I may try. I had a little trouble removing the old fixtures. The old incandescent bulbs heat-welded the headliner to the back of the fixture. A plastic putty knife was used to separate the fixture from the headliner. Well... the new screw holes didn't quite line up. So I made a metal pattern to pilot new holes. I snipped, trimmed, and tinned, the wires in the Airstream and on the new fixture. I’ve heard good things about the Wago 221 series connectors and wanted to try them. They have a little lever-clamp that makes it easy to disconnect and reconnect, if I ever want to play with this fixture again. I was able to get them from Home Depot. I used #6x3/4 truss head stainless screws for the new fixtures, tightened just snug. Used the smaller screws as the old and new holes were so close together. New LED 4000k bulbs.
Happy Travels!
