Installing 12V Home Lighting

Does anyone have any experience installing conventional 12V (low voltage) interior home lighting, sans transformer? I'd like to move away from typical RV lighting in our renovation. All help and comments are appreciated.

Thanks,

Pete

Yes. Just ditch the transformer and go to town. Lamps don't care if it's A/C or D/C.

Sweet!

Thanks UWE. Just to confirm; if I run 5 20W 12V bulbs that's a total amperage of 8.3 amps right?

Sounds about right.
I put mine in groups on separate switches, so I can save my battery reserve when off the power grid, and only use the lights I need.
I employ 18 recessed lights, 10W each. I bought mine here:

That's a great idea. I'm limited to what I can do without taking out the upper panels, I've got all the lower skins out but don't want to pull any more than I have to; I'll have to see what I can fish up with the existing wiring and go from there.

Thanks again for the help.

Stream On.
