I might have a couple green lights in my barn... $10 a piece!

Magic Lamp
Although my original gas lamp isn't a Humphrey, it gets use on every trip. Its a Veritas brand made in Germany and similar versions are still available. I've only needed to change the mantle once and I've been on all kinds of roads. Have only used the modern Coleman mantles and have great luck with them. The gas line runs up the streetside wardrobe closet and T's off the stove line and then runs up across inside the overhead galley locker directly to the lamp.
Love the lamp and use it often.
Brad

Mine says 3" side clearance and 4" top clearance, and 2000 BTU/h, on the approval sticker. Humphery recommended 3/8" copper tubing.
They burn gas at a rate comparable to a stove burner on "low" and I consider the basic draftiness of any house or trailer to be sufficient ventilation.

The clip-on mantles work well and are much more convenient to install and remove.

The ONLY substitute that I have been able to buy is the Mr Heater version. I suspect that those are copies of the Humphrey/Paulin being made in China versus the Canadian made one. The two I do have are Humphrey.

They are pretty cool... I've got the same light as Brad - I prefer the Veritas over the Humphrey anyday!

Well, last time I did a search they were available but doesn't look like it anymore. My old link is dead. These do come up on Ebay occasionally and are not inexpensive.
Same here Rob, anyday!!

Could it be you have not balanced your running gear?
Or worn axles?
Mostly likely the mantles break at speeds over 70 while passing sob's.

There was a gas line in place at the cabinet and a 12v fan removed for the new lantern.
frank, I also had the breaking mantle problem at first but the last one has been in place for the last four years. Still works great.

Of olden times that was the color the metal part was painted, and they had a cylindrical shade rather than a globe-shaped one. It was similar to the "avocado" color that was popular for appliances for a while.
