Iím having extreme difficulty figuring out the trailer lights to the truck. When I took the old plug off the trailer I noticed that the wires were hooked up differently. I am seeking info from anyone who might know the color code on the wires bc Iím trying to wire up a new end. I have a yellow which usually means left signal, green which usually means right signal, brown which usually means running lights, white that usually means ground, blue that usually means brakes, then the have a black n red wire. Anyway, I wire it up but nothing on the trailer is working except the bright side of the 1157 bulb which Iím assuming that is the turn signal n or brake light but it doesnít blink. Any help out there. Itís a 1973 24 ft argosy camper

The first thing I would do is make sure I have a good ground. I would use a pair of jumper cables from the trailer frame to the TV hitch.

Attached you will see a diagram from the 1973 Airstream owner's manual showing how the lights are wired. I would expect an Argosy to be wired the same. Note that this wiring scheme does not match modern standards, hence the second diagram.

Good luck!

I got your PM--thought I would respond here. Attached is a blown-up version of the wiring diagram, that should be more readable.

It used to be possible to download vintage user's manuals from the website, usually by going to support and looking in the document archives. The user manual has a lot of information in it, but what you will probably really need is the Service Manual, which I have never seen as a free download. I bought one on ebay, and that might be the first place to look. There are several threads on these forums discussing various places to get the service and user manuals--just try searching for "service manual" and you should get several hits. Again, I don't know if there are separate manuals for the Argosy trailers, but they are generally the same as the Airstream branded models.

good luck!
